1.8 Artwork display problems for large collections

I’m having artwork display issues after updating to 1.8. I have a large collection of about 160,000 tracks. Norris says under 1.8 artwork is downloaded on the fly from Roon servers & points to my router (an at&t 5268ac) as the problem.

I’m wondering if other users with large collections are experiencing these problems, your views on whether an upgraded router might help (and if yes router recommendations).
