Try GRC | ShieldsUP! — Internet Vulnerability Profiling
Enter 50000 (or what you set for arc) and choose the custom option, this will tell you if the port is open to the internet (it should if setup ok)
It should say “closed — unknown protocol” this means the port is open but the test couldn’t handshake with Roon.

Amazingly, I just re-booted the router and now have the message about the Core being accessible by ARC! 
…although just received a message on the Google Play store telling me my device isn’t compatible. Turns out you need Android 9 (Pie) and my phone is still on Android 8 (Oreo)
