Perhaps I’m not understanding the particular circumstances, but when I play a 5.0 file while applying a Parametric EQ filter, it plays correctly out of all channels.
I guess when you said “ …or a Parametric EQ…” in your original post, I thought it applied to what I’m doing (btw, I don’t know what a “Procedural Filter” is ).
Procedural filters move data from one channel to another or mix channels. Going from 5.0 to 5.1 even with a silent sub channel involves a procedural filter.
My apologies. I feel like I’m still not understanding it. In the example I used, Roon is converting it from 5.0 to 5.1. How does this differ from what you described?
But in my case the remapping isn’t compromised; all channels play as they should. Is the incorrect mapping only occurring in certain setups? Perhaps it’s introducing just the Procedural EQ (I’m only using PEQ) that triggers the issue?
I just posted this same issue on AudioPhile Lifestyle. I thought it was an iso2dsd software issue! Didn’t realize it was an unresloved ROON issue. Thanks for answering Kal.
@John – I noticed that one consequence of the channel mapping issue is that you cannot use Roon’s “mute channels” procedural filter to check playback of 5.0 files, since the filter itself changes the channel layout.
Is there any update on when this problem might be fixed?
