5GHz Wi-Fi Scanning Issue

The 5G Wi-Fi scanning issue.

  • Ver: RoPieee 2024.08 (1712) [STABLE]
  • Kernel: 6.6.45-SPCKFSH-v7+
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2
  • 5G Wi-Fi USB dongle: TP-LINK AC600 Wireless Realtek RTL881AU (Archer T2U Nano)

Issue description

  • RPI3 onboard 2.4GHz can scan and connect
  • The Wi-Fi 5G worked before. After upgrading to the latest version, it failed to scan any 5G SSIDs
  • Wanna 5G Wi-Fi Connection since the audio streaming of larger DSD data does not work smooth using slower 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection
  • Below is an animated GIF to show the scanning issue. First, the scanning result is empty. When scanning the second time, it shows “scanning for networks” forever.

Any suggestion to fine-tune the 5G Wi-Fi connection? May be any instruction ssh or connect to the Ropiee terminal to manually configure the Wi-Fi settings?

Moved to the RoPieee category as this is not a question Roon’s Support team would handle.

As far as I know there is no SSH on RoPieee anymore.

Just to make sure, are you broadcasting your SSID? In other words you have not set your router/AP to hide your SSID?

I believe this is identical to this issue, which Harry has confirmed will be fixed in the next Ropieee release.

@JWC Thanks for your info. Looking forward to applying the new update : >

BTW, I agree with @spockfish that using a tiny 5G WiFi client to connect to RPI via ethernet wire is a much more stable setup.
