8 days left in my trial and I really dont know if Roon is really worth a 1 year subscription

On first impressions I love the Roon experience.
The richness of information delivered whilst listenening to high quality tracks seems to tick all the boxes, for me.
I have one nigle and one major detractor.
The niggle is, when reading an artist biography, the page resets when a track changes - very irksome in my view. I’m wondering if I’ve not found a setting to make the experience better- If anyone has suggestions how to make this better, please let me know

Probably the most problematic issue is selling the service to the family and therefore justifying the cost.
They want a features similar to Deezer’s flow: Press a button and just play “stuff they like”.
I can’t find any simple answer to this.
Could anyone suggest work arounds or features I’ve missed?
Currently I’ve imported my extensive music collection and also subscribe to Tidal.
Can Roon make a “Flow” like playlist? Or can you add the Tidal “My Mix” playlists to the home screen as it may be enough to justify the costs?
Many thanks
Rob

This is indeed the case if you go to Now Playing and from there to the bio in the Now Playing views. However, you can also go to the artist in the library and read it there, then it doesn’t change.

I’m not in front of Roon right now, so I’d rather not give a UI path that might be wrong, but there are ways.

They can click Play > Start Radio on any album, artist, track, etc., which is supposed to play an automatic queue based on the item it’s started on. However, be aware that opinions differ and it works badly (e.g. many repetitions) for some, but apparently OK for others (like me - though I don’t use it extensively, so maybe my usage does not trigger the issues). (Lots of forum threads about it).

You can also have a monthly subscription until you are sure, by the way.

Thanks for the quick reply, Suedkiez. I’ll investigate Roon Radio. It does seem a bit convoluted to have to select Roon Radio from an existing playing track, but I’ll view it with an open mind.

You don’t have to. From the linked page:

How do I start playing Roon Radio?

You can choose to start Roon Radio any time by navigating to an Artist, Album, or Track and choosing the Roon Radio playback option.

To avoid the scrolling issue go to the main menu select Artists then use the filter box (BTW your BIG friend) to add 3-4 letters

Choose your artist and that it , the default is the bio. Overview

You can switch Roon Radio on and leave it on permanently

Go to the Playing Now Section at the base of the page you are on and click on the 3 lines icon far R

Select Yes

Say now you play an album, when the album finishes Roon Radio just carries on

I find myself with a selection of “seed tracks” depending on what I want to listen, just play one “seed” and sit back

PS did you know you can subscribe monthly to “extend “ the trial until you are ready to take the plunge

I am a 8 yr happy Roon user !

I’m a lifetime Roon subscriber and wouldn’t use anything else. I’ve got Qobuz playing through a Naim streamer, so I could use either of those apps, but I find Roon to be much better and more involving.

Having said that, I have no idea how to solve your “most problematic issue”. Everyone else in my house can’t get beyond “Hey Google”.

The only person in my family, my wife, has touched Roon and the HiFi about 5 times in six years. She was successful maybe twice.

When she wants some music she says “Alexa, play 70’s music”
