Description of Issue
Acro has Roon Ready function activated. The Acro shows up on the Roon Audio devices page only when connected via WiFi. When I try to use the USB-C connection directly to my MacBook Pro, there is no connection. Problem replicates when used on a MacBook Air. WiFi is fine, no response when hard-wired. I have used different USB-C and Thunderbolt cables without success. A&K of course (predictably) have referred me to Roon for support on this issue.
Thanks!

Does the device work using another media player via USB? What’s more, when connected via USB, is it listed and enabled under Settings > Audio?
Thanks Martin. I have tried connecting to a MacBook Air with the same result. In neither case does the Acro show up in Apple>Settings>Sound>Output .It will however show up if I choose DISK & then USB DAC mode, but that still doesn’t show up in Roon. I even connected the Acro directly to my Roon Core NUC with the same result. The Roon-Ready function on the Acro is enabled (obviously since it shows up when its wifi is switched on). Very frustrating …
Appreciate the help

if it doesn’t show up in macOS, I’d be inclined to thinks it’s a setting in the device since the USB C port is for data and audio. Maybe call A&K again?
Is there a reason why you want to use a USB connection rather than a network (Roon Ready) connection?
Thanks Martin, I’ve written them again. I’m not certain whether Roon-Ready certification simply means that Roon will recognise it either as a physically connected End-Point or if Wi-fi accessible is enough? Must be the Old School part of my psyche that says a hard wired connection is preferable to a Wi-Fi one even though I have a very robust and fast Wideband WiFi system at home. As far as SQ is concerned, is there supposed to be difference between the two? If there isn’t, I can end my windmill tilting right now

Roon Ready means it is certified to work with Roon as a streaming DAC, i.e., over Wi-Fi. Roon certified DACs connected using USB are Roon Tested devices.
