Sure, but I choose the wait and see approach on day one of this announcement
Maybe, I dunno. I get sub-2 seconds response time in the cloud at worst though (except for things like the pathological The The case), so that doesnât bother me much personally, and I am sure the cloud case can be made faster as well.
Hi,
that sounds like a good way forward for Roon.
I would like to see you make a lifetime offer to existing users of e.g. 499,- dollars. I would love to take advantage of that, but over 800 is just too much.
I remain loyal to Roon and hope for Roon ready devices from Marantz.
I hope we see more third-party integrations as part of this. An API for adding new metadata sources (eg archive.org), an integrated way to purchase music downloads, a richer playback API (eg for the AppleTV UI app), an API for adding to MUSE, Atmos support, and so much more.
The point somebody above made was that you need the cloud for fast search responses and so he was afraid of a further slowing down. My point is that without internet access you only need (and can!) search locally and thar I am confidentvthat this would not have a negative performance impact, it might even be faster.
Iâm a bit confused about this. I havenât used Roon in a while, so itâs possible I missed the âgamingâ features, but Iâd be curious to know what those are. Also, I donât really get the âheadphonesâ part. I thought a lot of enthusiasts used headphones.
The March 2024 issue of âStereophileâ (page 13) contains an essay by Jim Austin (Editor) entitled âHarman Buys Roonâ. He makes a plea for Roon leadership with data and metadata tagging.
The box set problem could become the first step in such a mission.
I highly appreciate todays update post by Roon and I am looking forward to a bright future Thanx, Team Roon!
Yet, with less focus on âcasualâ listening, I fear that my two most wanted feature requests (Chromecast on iOS and My Live Radio available in ARC) might have left the building already âŚ
Anyway, keep up the good work and happy listening to all of us!
My definition of âcasual listenerâ doesnât include what streaming services or gear they use. Regarding Spotify in particular, I for one am happy it exists, so I save my condescendence for other things (usually in politics).
Hopefully my reading of the situation is correct in that Harman have said to Roon that the product is great, just improve it, donât worry about expanding into new areas to get extra subscribers, just make Roon the best library management and playback tool with streaming out there.
And I truly believe this is what most in Roon want also. Looking forward to history having a focus.
