The Ability to access your private drive so you can go directly to your own ripped music as it is organized on that drive.
I don’t really understand this one. You can effectively watch any folder so if you have a local drive with a music folder you can watch it. Or do you have something else in mind?
I simply want to be able to access my personal drive directly and access and play from the file structure set on that drive. Its a basic music tree set up as follows Genre>Artist>Album. Its a simple alphabetical listing with out cover art until you select what you want to play. Scenario: You want to listen to your own high resolution files but you don’t know who you want to listen to… You go to the genre “jazz” and you scroll through your alphabetical listing of artist until you find someone of interest “Cannonball Adderly” you click on that name and all of his albums in your collection appear in a vertical listing alphabetically. You click on the one you want to listen to and the files of that album and cover art appear in the play box. That is a lot faster to access…especially when you are not sure what you want to listen to . That alternate access would be helpful for your tidal collection also … either or or both collections combined.
What you’re asking for is already available in Roon…but just in a much more graphically interesting way that will appeal to most people much more than the hierarchal Text & Folder listing you’re suggesting
Go to Genre…click Jazz…All Artists…choose Cannonball…choose the album you want and play…and all of the above whilst using more interesting Images to navigate your way thru it
It’s the “Image / Graphical Navigation” in Roon that appeals to most people…and I don’t imagine that most will be interested in a text based Folder & Subfolder layout that is already available to them in Windows Explorer or Finder
Yes that is there. But I don’t see a way to access my personal drive to the exclusion of everything else. While Tidal sounds great it does quite reach the level of a rip from my personal collection. Being able to go directly to the source of music should be an option without going to another file player.
There must be some misunderstanding as the first thing that you see when you do what Ronnie suggested is your personal music. Tidal comes way down the screen.
No misunderstanding… just my drive and the way it is set up… just my drive.
Try File Manager [Finder on Mac]…that will give you what it sounds like you want
Who wants all those confusing images and unnecessary information, when you can have a simple hierarchal text based list
I can get that with my JRiver app. But since this is a forum for asking for convenient or new features I am asking for integration with the Roon app. That is one of the selling points of Roon… one stop shopping. If the feature is in the $50 JRiver app it can’t be that big of a deal.
I still would like to hear from someone at Roon Labs on this. If we can acess Tidal directly we should be able to access our personal music drive directly. Basic.
