Access to rock folder

I have to reinstall windows for issue. I don’t remember exactly how I mapped last time. When I type \rock\data, I see ‘extend error has occurred’. when I enter ///data, it is asking user name. I can’t recollect

I am able to access on browser just typing http://rock.

Appreciate any input on what should be issue and how to I set id/password if needed.

This seems succeed in attempting to connect, which is good. However, it looks like in the meantime you may have updated your Windows 11 to the 24H2 update. This introduced changes to network authentication with SMB: by default, it is not possible anymore to connect anonymously with guest/guest, which is why it now pops up a password dialog.

However, at this time, ROCK continues to use guest/guest, so you need to reenable this in your Windows client. Microsoft explains this here:

Note: The steps 1-5 of this solution are for NAS where you can create a log-in account with authentication by username and password. You can’t do that on ROCK, and therefore the solution for this starts at step 6 (re-allow guest/guest log-in on the Windows client)

Appreciate the reply. I have windows 11 home edition. I typed \<ip address of rock\ and then entered guest/guest and got this message. I will read one more time to make sure.

Doing this using powershell as admin worked. Cool. I am assuming it will let to prompt if other NAS needs id/password.

Yeah, it just allows you again to connect to shares that don’t require user/password, same as it was before the 24H2 update.
