Accessing Nucleus One SSD with HEOS for Music Playback (ref#3CTW3U)

Select your Nucleus model from the list below

· Nucleus One

I'm having trouble with my Nucleus hardware

· Other

Select the option that fits best

· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices

Describe the issue

Is it possible to access to Nucleus One from other streaming application such as HEOS?
In case I attach internal SSD storage , Is it possible to access and listen to musics contained in the internal SSD storage not only by Roon but also by other streaming application such as Heos, etc.?
Your kind response would be appreciated.

Unlikely !!

You can see the internal drive via your OS , Windows in my case and you can access , copy files etc the drive as a “share” in Windows.

For example at one point I treated the internal SSD as the “master source” and used it as a source to feed a JRiver instance on my PC

How you would use that as a source or HEOS I have no idea, I suspect Not

What I do currently is to maintain a “Master Library” on my main PC , this feeds JRiver and then I sync after any change to the SSD in my NUC. That way you could probably point the HEOS at that file location . a bit messy .

Probably a simpler option is to buy 2 USB HDD (or one internal SSD and a second SSD) and keep them in sync , designate one as Master the other as Slave. I use Sync Back Pro , it syncs by difference.

Thank you for your response and suggestion.
I have Marantz Cinema50 and can listen to music contained in NAS(HDD) by using HEOS on iPad.
What I want to do ,if possible, is to replace the NAS(HDD) with Nucleus One’s internal SSD.
But, I can not see Nucleus One from HEOS on iPad.
I can see Nucleus One from MacBook by keying in IP address of Nucleus One.

I think it’s unlikely you will see the HDD of one device from another device especially of a different manufacture.

The easiest way is to have 2 drives and sync them , this will probably mean seeing the Nucleus drive in a PC OS then removing the HEOS drive to the computer to sync it - Messy !!

Of course the NAS as a central server is still the best to keep one source for both systems, I have a desktop with 5 x HDD that does this sorta NAS duty and I sync from there to the NUC SSD

Hey @ae1,

Thanks for writing in and welcome to the community!

Accessing the internal storage of a Roon Nucleus One directly from the HEOS app for music playback isn’t possible, unfortunately. The Nucleus One is designed to serve as a dedicated Roon Server, managing and streaming your music library within the Roon ecosystem. Its internal storage is intended for Roon’s use.

Given these considerations, a more reliable and supported approach would be to store your music library on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device or a computer that can share its folders over the network using SMB.

Hope this helps! :+1:
