I listen to Roon using a bunch of different WiFi speakers dotted around the house. Whilst I’m using decent wireless kit (Unifi) the audio cuts out from time to time in some of the rooms furthest away from the base station (using Airplay).
From what I understand Airplay requires a lossless stream which means it doesn’t work that well over poor quality WiFi. Does Roon support adaptive transcoding to handle low bandwidth network connections for any of the supported audio endpoints? For example does Squeezebox or the upcoming Sonos support built in Roon transcode to lower bits/samples over lower bandwidth networks?
