· add playlist to library - all to library greyed out.
I want to add a playlist to library, but add to library is greyed out no matter which 3 dots i click on. I want to do this to train roon to know what i like from my tidal playlist by clicking on the heart sign sicne playing from playlist the heart sign doesnt appear. i have tried everythingh for an hour selecting the tracks..selecitng playlist..add to library is greyed out. please help me out.
Welcome to the forum! This behavior sounds strange, can you please share a few screenshots of what you’re seeing? Is the behavior the same if you reboot RoonServer or log out and back into TIDAL via Roon Settings → Services?
Yes logging out and in changes nothing (on Tidal and/or Qobuz/both).
One other strange behavior, if I press improve, it states “4 quality upgrades found” if press upgrade, it changes to match to library, and then if press that it changes back to upgrades again… it’s a loop.
I am wondering if this other issue is related. When adding items from a playlist to a tag and then search under that tag name, only some of them appear rather than all of them.
For the first video you’ve shared - the reason you can’t select ‘add to library’ is because the playlist itself is a Roon-created playlist, so it’s already added to your library.
From your second video, I see you created the tag succesfully, and only ~half of the tracks from that playlist appear when sorting by the new tag.
It could be the case that some of the tracks on the playlist have not been added to your library. Could you please go through all the tracks in the playlist and confirm they’ve all been successfully added to your library, and then see if you can reproduce the issue?
Regarding your first reply - understood - the issue is this: the only reason i wanted to add that list to the library is because I want the heart button to appear so I could like train roon as to what i like.
In regards to your second reply to my question/issue - yes you are probably right, some are in my library so the add to library option remains greyed out and tagging only adds/shows already in the library. Two follow up quesitons on this:
Let’s assume that some of those where the add to library is greyed out are already in my library - why doesn’t the heart button appear, → Take Where is My Mind? the option is greyed out, when I go to my tracks it appears in there - however, in either case I can’t use the heart button to select it when I play it from the playlist, but when i go to the library where it appears I can use the heart button to select it. Abnd what’s the work around if any to make them appear in the playlist i titled “roongenerated” itself? LINK
How likely is it that this behavior can be changed by the roon team? What I mean is this: that the “Add to library” be enabled in this case since there are items in the selection that have not (yet) been added to the library. It’s important in my use case, because otherwise i have to spend time on individual tracks to see which are/which are not in the library. Is there no way for Roon to calculate this in the background so that only those tracks that are not in the library end up being added - this is of course, a problematic approach itself I will admit - but at least it doesn’t require me to waste effort diagnosis which are/which are not in the library. Then again, maybe I am alone out there and significant majority don’t have such use case. For example, this playlist has 157 songs - it would take me too long to determine which is/which is not in the library…or is there a way i can trick the Roon system even if it involves a few more steps?
Last question:
It’s kind of similar to my question above - there is a track that doesn’t exist in my library at all. But the Heart button only appears if i try to play it from the library, rather than the playlist. What’s the workaround, if any? LINK
Thanks for pinpointing those items; the information is very helpful.
We were able to reproduce the bugs you reported and have opened internal Jira tickets to address them. Please keep an eye on future Release Notes for the fix.
Regarding the Favorite icon: This is currently working as designed, so we haven’t logged it as a bug.
However, if you would like to see this changed, we encourage you to create a post in the Feature Requests category. Our product team actively reviews that section, and your feedback helps drive future development.
Hi @alex_h, thank you very much for your reply.
Ok I will definitely post in feature suggestions/requests. To make that I understand regarding the Favorite icon, you said that “This is currently working as designed, so we haven’t logged it as a bug.” You mean therefore, - that even if I add the track to the library from a tidal/roon playlist per the video in #3.0 link i posted above, favorite sign only appears if I play it from the library rather than the playlist right? Or you mean something else, thanks.
We have formally reported both the Adding to Library issue and the Tag Sorting issue as bugs.
Regarding the absence of the Favorite button: this is currently working as designed and is not considered a bug.
However, if you would like to see this added, we highly recommend posting in the Feature Requests category. Our team takes customer feedback seriously, and while we can’t always implement new functionality immediately, your requests directly influence future development.
Thanks for your patience so far! We were able to discuss your case with our development team further, and have some good news in that there isn’t actually any bug occurring here.
Based on the video you’ve sent over:
After you’ve created a new playlist with the Qobuz tracks, you attempt to add a tag to said tracks. What you’re actually doing here is adding the tag to the playlist itself. So when you go to your tags and only see ‘1 item’, that item is the playlist itself.
Rather, you’ll want to click the three-dot drop-down above, where it shows the number of selected tracks. This will apply the tag to the tracks rather than the playlist.
Then, later on in the video, you do a similar move where you attempt to add the playlist itself to your library, which the playlist object already is in your library. When you then click the three dots up above, where it again showcases your selected tracks, this will offer you to add these non-library tracks to your library.
I hope this makes sense, and should clear up any confusion you have here. Thank you!
Benjamin, Thank you for your reply. Could you tell me which three dots you are referring to specifically? Is it the case that there is still a bug left though based on our convo (the try to add to library bug)? Thank you.
