The Add to Music Library never finishes.

TEXT GOES HERE

Hi @Lance_Goler,

Where is your library stored?

If you reboot your Core is there any change?

Stored on an external hard drive. Rebooted many times, no change.

Is it possible that the current version of Roon isn’t compatible with High Sierra. 10.13.6

@Lance_Goler Is your macmini running an ssd for the boot drive?

How much memory does it have?

With over 170,000 tracks by the looks of things it might take some amount of time.

Your not a new user or at least you have joined a while back…is this a new setup?

That’s a pretty old machine for a large library and under minimum spec (for the record)

Yes, SSD for the boot with 1tb total and 350gb left. 8gb RAM.

Hi @Lance_Goler,

Looking at your watched folders, I see you have iTunes Library added, and then separately you have Music > iTunes 2017 > iTunes Media > Music — Are these both the same iTunes libraries?

Thanks, Dylan. I just noticed that this morning when I checked back to see if the wheel had stopped spinning (it hadn’t). I deleted the last folder to be watched. I think that may have been an old way Roon took files directly from the iTunes library. Anyway, I deleted it and if this causes it to stop processing will post it here. So far it hasn’t.

Hi @Lance_Goler,

Thanks for the update. I’d like to enable some diagnostics on your account so we can take a look at what you’re experiencing here. Before I do this, may I ask that you please do the following and make a note of the time you do each:

  • Reboot your Core machine.
  • Start up Roon and let the spinner go for ~5 minutes.
  • Reboot your Core machine once more.
  • Start up Roon and let the spinner go for another ~5 minutes.

This should allow the team to gain some insight into what you’re experiencing in the report. Once you’ve done this let me know the timestamps and I’ll enable diagnostics on your account. When the diagnostics report is uploaded I’ll send it over to our team for analysis.

When you say let me know the timestamps, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. I’ve done what you said, but where do I find the timestamps?

Hi @Lance_Goler,

By timestamps, I just mean making a note of the time in your local timezone that you do the reboots. That way we can enable diagnostics and review the report for that timeframe so we can see what was happening during that time.

Ok. The timestamps are as follows:

1st Reboot, 11:30am EST. Spun for 5 mins
2nd Reboot, 12:20pm EST. Spun for 5 mins.

What next?

Also, know that it is taking about 5 mins for Roon Core to startup each time.

@dylan let me know if you need anything more from me to run the diagnostics?

Hi @Lance_Goler,

Thanks for the timestamps! Now that I have the timestamps, diagnostics have been enabled on your account. The next time your Core is active a diagnostics report will automatically be generated and uploaded directly to our servers

Once that’s been received, I’ll be sure to update this thread and pass the diagnostics over to the team for further analysis.

@dylan thank you! I just restarted the Core.

Thanks, @Lance_Goler.

The diagnostics report has been received and passed along to the team. The technical team is pretty deep into testing at the moment, so please accept our apologies if the turnaround here is a little longer than usual.

In the meantime, I was hoping to get a little bit more info to add to the ticket for the team:

  • When did this start occurring? Was it after specific media was added? After an OS update?
  • If you add a new track to Roon, does it import okay or does nothing import at the moment?

I’m honestly not sure when it started. It couldn’t have been after an OS update because this machine is stuck on High Sierra and it hasn’t had an update in quite some time. I add media constantly, and in fact, media gets added to Roon no problem. Just added two tracks fine. It seems to be stuck at track 42,357, the bar hasn’t moved in 24 hours.

Let me correct that, it has moved (42,311 to now 42,357) since I took the first snapshot, see here and compare with my first post. But it’s taking forever.

@dylan Dylan, any word back on this issue from the technical team?
