I have added a screenshot of me, as an example, trying to add the artist “London Symphony Orchestra” to an album - the menu comes up with lots of possibles that will have been uploaded as I have added CDs in the past but are just wrong - as can be seen.
If I look at the artists I have in the artist tab on the home screen e.g. Andre Previn, London Symphony Orchestra (which is on this list of possibles I am presented with) is just not there but to just allow me to simply add London Symphony Orchestra (I am beginning to wish that I had chosen an artist with a shorter name as the example) I have to scroll down about 30 incorrect artist names to find what I want. How can i delete these spurious non-artists from this list when adding an artist to a track or album? Anyone know?
Ok, let’s see if I can explain. First, it looks like you need to curate your Artists list. For instance you have two listings for Andre Previn, London Symphony Orchestra. One is clearly a typo with spurious characters in it. These should be combined. Two, I try to avoid compound artists like all of the entries you’ve shown as examples. Cynthia Haymon, Cynthia Clarey, Damon Evans (etc.) should all be separate entries and not combined as one artist. That’s a lot of work especially with Classical Artists because that is typically how the metadata is delivered.
So to summarize, you can’t delete artists from that list since the list comes from your own database. The best you can do is curate the Artists in your database so the list becomes more manageable for you.
