Adding Output Device selector to HQPlayer Desktop & Mobile Clients

Hi @jussi_laako do you think you might ever add the ability to change the Output Device to the HQPlayer Client app or too the Apple and Android HQPDcontrol app.

Like me I am sure many other users run headless PC’s for HQplayer and it can be a pain to fire up the computer, run RealVNC (or RDP etc) and connect to the Computer and change the settings. Having 5 devices that serve as Ouputs to HQPlayer when they are on, and I often cannot remember which device I was using last.

I understand that it would only work when HQPlayer was stopped, but it would be very cool to see this feature. I somehow thought this feature existed in 5.9 and quickly updated and was sadly disappointed (though I am loving the performance improvements from the earlier 5.x releases on my M1 Mac Mini)

Yours forever in hope

It is planned in form of setting profiles. With HQPlayer Desktop you can do that through the settings export/import feature. So you don’t need to go to settings and change anything there. Instead you load a settings file that is applicable to a particular output device you want to use.

This is not available at the moment through Client, because it needs some work to make it work properly also on Embedded. So there needs to be some interface to also manage these setting files on Embedded. And on all products a way to list the available options.

Thanks Jussi I have used the export feature for this in the past.

Great to know that you are planning to support profile’s as that sounds like a perfect solution to this and will enhance HQPlayer for all user’s that have multiple output devices.

This isn’t a big issue, but I have trouble deleting a sample profile I made on the configuration page.

There’s a mistake in my code, will be fixed. If you type in the profile name there, deleting works.

Thank you.
The profile feature is convenient for changing filters according to music source, for example.
I’ll set one for FM radio listening with the filters you suggested on the other thread.

You get much quicker filter changes if you just switch those from the control application. As the active filters can be changed on the fly, even during playback. While switching configurations restarts the server.

Hi Jussi I installed HQPlayer 5.10 today and created a couple of profiles on my Mac with my chosen output devices and preferred Room settings. I can see it is a nice start making this work really well. The client app on Mac and Windows worked nicely to swap them over and then was able to play back to the different room.

Is there a limitation to making this available on HQPControl mobile devices or planned as a future development?

Still it’s a nice improvement thank you

HQPlayer Client (for iPad) is already up to date and you can use it from there. Support in HQPDcontrol is up to Ales, I naturally cannot comment much on roadmap of 3rd party control applications.

Thanks Jussi I had completely forgotten that HQPControl client was not from you.

I don’t really use my iPad much anymore since I got a Pixel 9 fold, but I will grab it and install the official client later (as opposed to the unofficial one :man_facepalming:)

I thought the HQPDcontrol app was the official remote control app. My bad. :frowning:

Me too, I only found the HQPlayer client app for my iPad yesterday after Jussi mentioned it.
Funnily enough that works great :man_facepalming:

Great news, HQPDControl V4 now supports configuration changes on both Android and iOS

This hopefully makes those tweaks easier for many users
