If Roon let the link customization, then you could add a Google link for artists, etc.
I add the review link to the album artist tag. When viewing the album just copy the link and paste into web browser.
+1 on this request
+1, of course, but I have some complementary thoughts:
Artists are automatically created while importing file metadata, and some time later on (on album identification) the same artist gets created again using the Roon identification data. So we end up with 2 (or more) different artists that need merging.
It would be nice if the merging process could warn of custom bio etc that could be lost while merging.
FWIW, a simple workaround is to create a pdf and put it in an album folder, or copy to multiple album folders as necessary. It will then show up as a pdf in each album.
It would be great if we have the possibility to add a note or comment next to the track. It doesn’t have to appear in full, but just a little sign that there is a note attached, or add it on the ‘3 dot’ menu on the right (that starts with Add to a playlist). It’s okay for me if the note is not searchable - free form text is good enough. I can then capture my comments about a particular track if needed.
I would really like the ability to add listening notes to albums and artists. As your collection grows, recalling all the differences between versions of albums or performances becomes daunting. Keeping notes outside of Roon is a real mess. A note icon at the album and artists screens that could be easily recalled and edited would add a great deal of value for me.
Maybe try , making notes in Word, save as PDF and place in the album folder?
Great for local albums.
Unfortunately impossible for streamed albums

Same request:
Now celebrating its fifth anniversary.
That would be great!
This “fUture” request can only be addressed in an even number year (it was opened in 2016). So I guess no luck this year!
Thought I’d bump this as it’s a feature I’d like.
Would be nice if you could add a personal note that is viewable in the album view (say above the tags) or even as a sort of tag you click that then displays whatever you’ve written. even just a section within the ‘Edit Album’ section of the ‘Album Editor’ would do the job.
Bumpity bump. Any bets that this will be included / not included in Roon 1.8?
Bumpity bump. Any bets that this will be included / not included in Roon 1.8?
No one seems to be able to answer this question or even give the slightest consideration to this request which seems essential for any enlightened music lover who doesn’t just listen to the latest trendy english-only stuff…
I was definitely hoping to see this new features added to 1.8 but no. I don’t get it, roon is all about meta data but if the data is not available or we don’t like the default album review we should be able to insert either our own review / notes or the review of our choice…
I will continue to hope…
There is a lot of real estate wasted on the new interface, especially on the big screens. Maybe this is just a sign of what is yet to come (they left that on purpose for the own reviews and stuff).
You won’t hear an official response. Roon policy is neither confirm or deny that they’re working on a feature, or have it on a list of things to do. Some have been asking for features that would seem easy to implement and be highly desirable for many years without hearing anything.
When I add Australian artists and albums to my Roon setup it’s rare that artist pictures and history are available, and the same for album covers and reviews.
I can add a artist picture and album cover. It’s extremely frustrating that I can’t add the artist history or an album review.
I assume it’s because of agreements Roon have with their metadata providers that this seemingly simple to add feature isn’t available.
Thing is, if such agreements are in place, I’m surprised Roon doesn’t try to solve the problem a different way. If an artist history or album review can’t be found, Roon should provide that information to it’s metadata providers so those providers can solve the problem.
I would like the opportunity to add notes.
I find a way to get around this is by adding some notes to ‘version’ in the ‘edit album’ page. So I might add ‘good review in The Times’ or ‘One of Steve’s favourite albums’, to remind me why this album is in my library. These ‘Version’ notes pop up with the album display and 1.8 will display over 50 characters in the My Albums view and under the Artist discography view. Very useful.
