Is there any way to add a new record label that doesn’t currently exist in Roon? It seems that modifying labels is very difficult, and, as far as I can tell, adding a new one is not possible. Am I missing something?
Hi @Norratz,
I don’t believe there is a manual way, but it shouldn’t be required as record labels are automatically added when you add an associated album to your library.
Have you added any albums yet from this record label?
I believe when you are in the album editor you can manually override what Roon may have assigned, but this doesn’t make that a drop down selection for other albums.
Hi @Norratz. You can indeed add a new label to albums in your library. Navigate to the album editor and enter the name of the label you want to add in the box highlighted on the screenshot below. You then need to press Enter and that creates the label name. This name is then added to your own database and other albums can be given the same label name, if you so desire.
Hi Carl,
Yes, I have multiple albums from the label, maybe 8 in total. Usually it’ll automatically find at least one of them and that way I can add others but on this occasion it has not registered the label at all.
I really wish there was a better method to edit this. Would also be great if you could have label pages, like artists pages. With a lot of contemporary music labels are relevant. It’d be a nice additional way to navigate your collection.
Yep, its not in the drop down menu and I can’t find an option to add a new label.
Hi. Are you sure you add it to Versions not labels? I assumed this was reserved for catalogue numbers because that is usually what is automatically inputed there. I tried on 2 albums from the same label and it doesn’t show in credits and the label still is not available in the drop down menu. Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to work for me.
Roon hasn’t assigned anything and I am unable to add a label that doesn’t already exist in the drop down menu.
Sorry. My bad. I highlighted the wrong field. It should be Label.
Yes, I’m pretty sure you can’t add a label that doesn’t already exist. Hopefully there is a work around for this. Seems like an illogical restriction.
You can. Enter the name in the blank field under Additional Labels. Hit enter and this will generate a new label. I’ve done it on numerous occasions.
I have tried on multiple occasions. With other labels too. If I type something in to the Additional Labels section thats isn’t already there the Save button isn’t clickable - it hasn’t registered any edits.
I’m sorry, I missed the click ‘Enter’ you are right, I thought it would automatically register the text and I could just hit save. Thanks!!!
