Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Need advice re Roon recovery vs. new install on Mac Mini after RIP Macbook Air (with Roon Core/database) - have music files on separate LaCie HDD but need know how best to proceed - fresh Roon install on Mac Mini and point to HDD or recover off Macbook Air SSD and migrate/install on Mac Mini

Content is purchased downloads, iTunes downloads, Tidal downloads, and CD-ROM digital conversions. Want to be sure that the new Core/database includes all content - but don't know whether a fresh install will "read" and capture all of same in build of a new Server/database or if I should wait until my IT people can recover/harvest my existing Server/database off the MacBook Air SSD (which I am told is recoverable). ADVICE APPRECIATED!

Hey @Mark_Musto,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! I’m really sorry to hear about your Macbook Air - suffering from hardware failure is never easy nor fun.

The big question here for you is if you’ve saved any prior Roon backups. Ideally, you’ll have a recently saved backup that is accessible on your new Mac Mini.

Here is everything you need to know about restoring a saved backup:

Without a saved backup, the new Roon install will treat your content like it did the first day you installed Roon on the Macbook Air. You’ll be able to import all your library, but all of your prior saved settings and adjustments won’t be included.

I hope this helps! :folded_hands:
