I have a MacMini as a Roon server. I use a MacBook Air as a Roon client and connect via USB to a McIntosh C47.
This morning I was playing DSD128 music just fine. But it would not play DSD256.
I thought it might be a networking issue. I switched to regular PCM files but those would not play either. I noticed that the signal path included a DSD over PCM. So I restarted Roon. The PCM files play fine and the DSD over PCM step is not in the signal path.
I think that Roon might get “stuck” on DSD after it fails to play high-rate files and doesn’t switch back to plain PCM without a restart.
(I looked for a log file for this morning that might have recorded a problem but there isn’t one.)
Hi @scott_powell ---- Thank you for the feedback and my apologies for the troubles. To help evaluate this problem, may I kindly ask you for the following:
Screen shots of your audio settings, as seen in the examples below.
Have you always had this issue while trying to user the McIntosh C47 with roon? If not can you think of anything that has changed in your setup (new cables, new networking hardware, software updates, etc)?
Have you tried rebooting your core? Swapping out your USB cables?
Can you please provide insight into what your network configuration/topology is like, as well as providing information on any networking hardware you may be implementing in your setup (routers, switches, extenders, repeaters, etc).
