My Wiim Pro Plus lost Airplay Out yesterday and feedback from Wiim support today is that they will no longer support it.
For me Wiim has solved the issue with keeping a group of Airplay 2 speakers/equipment together withouth degrading the overall performance of the Roon server.
The question i ask myself is ; ,What to do now , short/long term?
- Skip Airplay and buy new Speakers that are all Roon Ready ?
= Costly with 8 rooms/zoones - Use Wiim mini’s and replace Sonos with active speakers that has Aux/Optical in ?
= More budget friendly , re-use old gear. - Other … ?
To make good sustainable decisions on where to go it would be good to get feedback from Roon on the post from CrystalGipsy above especially if there are legal matters with Apple here.
I am also curious about what all the testing on Airplay 2 is about. What is the objective ? Can we expect more stable Airplay from Roon and/or extended functionality going forward.
