Are there any streaming quality reductions when I use airplay to stream from roon versus streaming to a true roon endpoint?
With Airplay you are limited to lossless i.e. 16/44.1 resolution. Running a true Roon endpoint would give you the ability to stream everything above that resolution.
Airplay doesn’t use RAAT. Whether this results in ‘streaming quality reduction’ probably depends upon the health of your network and how the endpoints are connected.

Airplay can’t do hires and also mucks about with clocking.
