Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· When I import ALAC ripped albums, they are coming up as corrupted. They play fine in iTunes and Windows Media Player. I also cannot delete the albums.

I have some definitive news for you. I’ve personally tested the files you uploaded on my own Roon system, and they imported and played perfectly without any corruption flags. And we see the playback traces of the “corrupted” files in your logs:

This is actually great news because it confirms the files themselves are healthy and that Roon is fully capable of reading them. The “Corrupt” label you are seeing is a local false positive—essentially, your Roon database has “cached” an error status from the initial scan and isn’t letting it go.

To resolve this, we need to clear this “stale” info from your system:

The reason you can’t delete the files and Roon can’t update their status is almost certainly Windows File Permissions. If Roon doesn’t have full “Write” access, it can’t clear the error flag in its own database for those files.

  • Action: Right-click your music folder in Windows > Properties > Security. Ensure the user account running Roon has Full Control. Also, ensure “Read-only” is unchecked in the General tab.

Once the permissions are fixed, we need to force Roon to “forget” the bad scan:

  • The “Out-and-In” Method: Move the affected album folders out of your watched music folder and onto your desktop.
  • Wait for Roon to notice they are gone (check your library).
  • Go to Settings > Library > Clean up library (this removes the “stale” database entries).
  • Move the folders back into your music library.

By doing this, Roon will be forced to perform a completely fresh scan. Since we’ve confirmed the files are healthy, they should import correctly this time without the red labels.

Let us know if the “Clean up library” step finally removes those stubborn entries!
