Album in library shows 1 song

Hey everybody,

This is my first post here. After a search on my own for a solution, this is my last resort.

A lot of the albums in my library show only 1 song. And yes… I know, this is because I tagged this song also. But sometimes I use this as a reminder, I always want to see the complete album when I click on it. And then I will look for the song that I may or may not have remembered. And when I did not remember, then I will see a complete album, with 1 song tagged.

Am I missing a something or is this just not possible?

Thanks in advance,

Merijn

Welcome to the Roon community, @Merijn_Bosma.

My guess is that you have marked the track Dylan as a favourite in the TIDAL app. Accordingly, this track is shown in Roon under the release.

Click on View complete album in TIDAL, and you will see all the tracks. From here you can add the album to your library.

Hi MJW

Thank you for your reply.

I know, this is my point. I want to see the album immediatly. Now I have to click twice. I want to click on the album and then see the album. Otherwise I would have searched for the song if I wanted to see only the song.

Now I click on album and get a song and have to click again for the album. I think this is strange

If you add the album to the library as @mjw described, then the whole album will be there, i.e., you only have to do this once per album.

It’s just how it is at the moment if you favorite a track in the streaming service. (And if Roon added the whole album even if the user only favorited one track, there might well be the opposite complaints  )

I did this but no changes. Tried several times, also restarted Roon. Or does this for some strange reason, take an amount of time?

It shouldn’t take long. But maybe after you add the album to the library, Roon might still show you the non-library Qobuz object. It does that sometimes.

If you go to Home > Recently Added, or to My Library > Albums, does it show you the complete in-library version there?

It shows the album in the albumlist, and when I click on ot, the it shows only the song again

Also, when I only tag a song on an album, it should not appear in the album list.

So in my thinking, when I go to albums and then click on the album. It should ALWAYS give me the full album. Otherwise I would have searched the song in another way.

When you are in an musicstore full of albums but there are singles between the albums.

It’s just not right

You should open an official support request because this doesn’t seem right. Click here → Support and then Get Help

Be aware that there is currently an ongoing issue with the sync between Qobuz/Tidal and Roon, so maybe this is the cause for not being able to add the whole album to the library:

This Roon Software Discussion section here is the one for user discussions and not normally monitored by Roon Labs.

But that’s not what you did. You favorited a track of an album on the streaming service. Roon has to do something with this and they picked one possibility. You don’t happen to like it, but I guarantee someone else wouldn’t like the alternatives.

You can voice your discontent in Feedback where Roon will see it.

And it does if you add an album to the library (or favorite an album on the streaming service, which is equivalent), but you didn’t.

I guess then that it will be fixed.

Thank you for your replies everyone!!!

Roon should put the tagged track in Tidal, in the list with favourite tracks of course. Not in the albumslist.

Whatever is causing this, it should not happen.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Roon. I just got it a few months ago. Before Roon I had Deezer. Especially the listen later (I am a dutch iser so forgive me if the trnalsation is not correct). My artist list in Deezer was getting so big because of missing such a simple solution for really a big problem if I look back at it.

It is just my brain that cannot handle these kinds of discrepencies haha.

Thank you all.

This is fundamentally not how Roon works, for better or worse. It’s very album-centric. And if you consider albums as physical entities, then it’s actually not possible at all to take a single track from an album.

Of course this isn’t true in a digital world and the way streaming services work, so Roon chose the compromise by putting the album in the library with just one track. It’s not that bad if the button for adding the whole album works as it should.

@Suedkiez is right, in Roon, you need to accept some basic architecture- & data structure decisions:

  • You can only favorite a track if it is in your library
  • Every track in your library must be linked to/part of an album

This has led to the situation where favoriting a track on a TIDAL album which is not in your Roon library:

  • Must be added to your library
  • Must be part of an album

Since you have only favorited the track and not the album, Roon adds the track, and thus, the album, albeit with only the single track.

The behavior where you have to click twice to get to the album, is because you are always first taken to your library album (which now only contains one track) and only on the second click does it take you to the streaming service album.

Important to note is that your issue only occurs if you favorite a track directly in TIDAL. Favoriting in Roon can only be done after adding the album to the library (or explicitly adding a single track to it, which it looks like you won’t be doing). So curating your library directly in Roon will prevent you from getting these single track albums.

I understand that it works this way. Again. But it’s still not right haha.

I use my phone for music on work and in the car a lot. So when I get Roon ARC to work then the problem will be over.
