Describe the issue

Album Editor requires clicking on tabs twice when initially opened on macOS.

Describe your network setup

Not Applicable

On macOS when I open the album editor, the first time I click on “METADATA PREFERENCE” or “EDIT ALBUM”, i have to click on either of those tabs twice to get it to be active.

After the initial 2 clicks, I can then freely move between tabs with a single click.

Update: the same problem exists on the Track Editor.

Hey @DrTone,

Thanks for the report! We haven’t been able to reproduce this on our end with a few different Macs running Roon.

Are you using a trackpad, or a Bluetooth mouse? Have you stopped Roon Server and performed a fresh reboot since taking the update?

Let me know if a reboot helps - it may be good to re-connect any Bluetooth-related devices as well to see if that helps. We’ll be awaiting your results!

@benjamin I’m using a trackpad that is always plugged in.

This problem has been happening for as long as I can remember, it isn’t related to the latest update. It happens on my iMac with trackpad and my Macbook Pro with it’s track pad.

I’m thinking it’s probably related to the Tap to click setting on a track pad. I love tap to click.

When I do a full click on the trackpad it doesn’t happen, so I think this confirms where the problem is. Not sure if it’s something that can be addressed.

Thanks for the clarification @DrTone. We’ll make a ticket for development to confirm the behavior for these windows.

I assume tap to click on the Apple Mouse would have the same issue.

Hi @DrTone,
I wanted to pass along an update on your case. The developers have attempted to reproduce this behavior on their machines but they weren’t able to. Do you have access to any other MacOS computers that you can try with. It would help to know if this is isolated to one machine.

If it does it would prove that tap to click is having the same issue. Do you have an Apple Mouse you can try?

We will be continuing the investigation on our end. We’ll let you know any updates here!

It happens on both my 2020 iMac with trackpad and the trackpad on my 2019 Macbook Pro.

Both of my machines are Intel based, I sure hope that isn’t what makes it happen.

Hi @DrTone,
Thanks for keeping us updated! I’ll add this information to our ticket and make sure you’re informed of any developments. Let us know if anything changes on your end!

I’m charging up my Magic Mouse will post results later today.

Update: I was wrong I thought the Magic Mouse had tap to click but it doesn’t.

Here is a video of me producing the problem. The first time my mouse goes on the word “METADATA PREFERENCE” and I tap to click the trackpad nothing happens. I move my mouse off and then on again and tap to click and then it becomes active. From that point on the tabs all work as they should with tap to click.

Thanks for sharing the above @DrTone we’ll pass it along to development!

In the meantime, have you refreshed your Roon database on the Mac? See if the below steps change the behavior:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Thank you! :raised_hands:
