The actual issue: Since Roon Arc is essentially unusable when I leave the house. I want to download my library onto my phone. It has enough storage to do so. My issue is that a large number of my albums are not showing up. When looking into this, the only thing I can figure out is that Roon has tagged the ‘primary’ album as being one from Tidal. This is despite the fact that my local version is the same quality as the Tidal version. The only difference I can see is that the Tidal version has a MQA version.

Suspecting that Roon is prefering the MQA, I modified the settings in Roon to “Treat MQA as worse than CD quality, but not as bad as lossy codecs”. I then went to “storage” and forced a rescan of the library. This did not change anyrhing.

How do I get my files to be the primary? I don’t really like this, as I am generally at home and would rather hear higher quality versions if available, but if this is the only way to have ARC see the album as downloadable, I guess I have no choice.

Is there some other method, or something I am missing?

Hi @anon13883296,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. To set the primary version of an album search for that album in Roon and go to versions.

Click the album you want and then the three dot menu. There will be an option called “Make primary there”

Let me know if that solves the problem with downloading in ARC.

It did not. The albums still do not show up when I select “Find something to download”. If I search from the home page, find the album, go to versions, my version is “Primary” and I can select to download it from there, and that works.

This isn’t practical as I am trying to download essentially my entire library, and I have no way to know which album may not have been included and which may have been skipped, until I go searching for it and realize it’s missing.

Walking through a number of these, it seems this is the situation:

  1. List all albums
  2. Is album marked Primary? Yes: continue, No, skip
  3. Is Primary available to download (local file in library) Yes: download album, No: end

That should be re-ordered to something like:

  1. List all albums
  2. Is a local copy available? Yes: Continue, No: Skip
  3. If multiple copies of same album are available, is this the one marked Primary? Yes: download No: continue
  4. If multiple copies of same album are available, is this the higest quality (based on ARC setting)? Yes: Download, No: select next version and check again

Grossly simplified, but something like that should work, and avoid filtering out things that should be available to download.

Hey @anon13883296,

Thanks for adding more clarity to your report! Based on your above description, this looks to be more of a feature request versus an actual issue within Arc.

With this, I highly suggest sharing your request over on our Feature Suggestions category in the community. From there it can receive proper attention and upvotes from other users :+1:

Have you tested disabling ‘automatically pick best quality’ under your Arc settings?

Are you able to navigate to 'Find Something to download' > three dots > download # albums ?
