Allo Sparky and USB DAC Issues

I have an Allo Sparky, KALI, Piano DAC 2.1, and decided to attach an USB DAC (Explorer2, Dragonfly red, and iFi DSD nano). All 3 DACs sound like they are playing in slow motion from roon.

The Allo Sparky is running DietPi/roonbridge and the Allo Piano DAC 2.1 works fine, the USB DACs mentioned above is another story.

Any suggestions/configuration changes?

Thanks

Hi,

we are investigating and will update soon

Update, I setup HQPlayer and that works through Sparky running DietPi and NAA. Roon-HQPlayer (running on my workstation)-Sparky (NAA)-USB attached DAC.

Have an issue with Roon playing through Sparky with an USB attached DAC. The Piano 2.1 DAC works fine.

Thanks

Hi Govnah,

Could you please replicate the slow playback on USB DAC, then provide us with the following logs?

cat /var/log/RoonBridge_log.txt
cat /var/log/RAATServer_log.txt
dmesg | grep usb

Also, which output frequency/bit-depth is being used on Roon and HQ player?

44.1 16bit 2ch file and I am using a Bryston BDA-3, same behavior as the other USB DACs. Also, don’t have this issue on a RPi 3 w/ the same setup.

What PSU are you using ? How many A on your PSU

Problem was duplicated it on our lab. Seems to be a problem with the USB driver. We are talking to the manufacturer of the CPU to try to fix it asap

Thanks for the reply and will keep an eye out for the fix/driver update.

A fix has been posted Allo sparky and HQPlayer NAA

Please advise if it solves your problems.

Been having some issues installing a new dietpi image as it keeps asking for internet connection even tho the internet test passes and I’m connected in via ssh it’s reporting an issue, so I can’t install the roon bridge files.

Not sure if it’s an issue which the death of AWS causes earlier in the day my time but it’s not happy about something…even tho when I ran dietpi-update it installed stuff from 143 to 144 I think

I also faced this issue today.
I have changed “http://ftp.debian.org/debian” to “http://ftp.debian.org/debian/” on /etc/apt/sources.list then worked

tried the above and I still get

sorted now I think with that full 4 line replacement…I guess Dan is on top of it too so thats always a good sign :stuck_out_tongue:

Can I ask why you decided to add a USB DAC? I don’t see the point. We all know USB is not good on SBC systems and you have a DAC on your Allo.
