There is nothing preventing them to manage the same Roon library. They can just start Roon and connect to the same Roon server. Of course, they have to be on the same LAN.

You can separate them a bit by using profiles, but be aware that there is no built-in security. I.e., they have the same library and every user who is connected to the Roon Server can make changes and deletions.

Welcome to the Roon Community! @Suedkiez hit the nail right on the head here, but I am happy to expand a bit on how Roon handles multiple users in a single household.

Roon is inherently designed for seamless household sharing. Anyone who downloads the Roon Remote app (on a phone, tablet, or PC) and connects to your local Wi-Fi network can access and control your Roon Server.

  • No Admin Restrictions: Currently, Roon does not have tiered permissions (like "Admin" vs. "Guest"). Anyone connected has full management capabilities, meaning both users can add, edit, or delete music from the shared library.
To keep your listening experiences uniquely tailored, you should utilize Profiles. You can create a second profile by navigating to Settings > Profiles in the Roon app.
  • What is Shared: The core library (the actual albums, artists, tags, and local files) remains shared and accessible to everyone.
  • What is Separated: Each profile gets its own distinct Favorites, Playlists, Play History, and personalized Daily Mixes.

I have created a second profile, what she would like to do is just see content that she adds and creating a play list did not seem very convenient to sort through.
Someone suggested Tags and we are trying that at the moment but creating Tags seems to be a bit inconsistent.
What I mean is it does not always let a Tag be created it seems like you have to back out of a search, find the selection in the library and then add a Tag.
Is there an easier way to sort and identify content by user from the library?

No it’s not possible because it’s exactly like this:

Suedkiez is right, Tags are the best tool we have for this today. There isn’t a way to filter or add a Tag directly from search results, you’ll need to locate the item in your library view first and tag it from there, so the extra step you’re running into is expected behavior rather than something going wrong on your end.

We don’t have a more convenient way to sort content by who added it beyond Tags right now. If this is something you’d like to see improved, we’re happy to note it as feedback for the team, just let us know.
