I’m struggling to find a WiiM Pro as a source in Roon. Output of analog pre-amp into analog inputs on WiiM Pro. WiiM set to Analog input. The WiiM Pro enabled in Roon > Setup > Audio as Roon Ready device. Not enabled as Airplay device. All available info indicates the WiiM pro should just show up as a source in Roon. I can’t find any info indicating where it should show up in Roon. Is anyone successfully using WiiN Pro as a renderer to stream analog sources over RAAT?
The WiiM Pro is Roon Ready, which means it can be used as an endpoint by Roon. This way, you can stream digital music via Roon through the WiiM device to your amp and speakers.
You are trying to do the opposite: stream music from your amp through the WiiM to Roon. This is not possible.
Yet.
There is a new technology which is called Roon Ready Relay. This would make it possible to use an analog source, convert it to digital, and stream it through Roon, making it possible to use convolution filters, use multiroom etc.
But this will be possible in the near future.
But even then, the WiiM should have technology on board to convert an analogue signal to digital and stream this to Roon.
Thank you Arlen. WiiM streamers are all capable of rendering their analog inputs for streaming to WiiM streamers on same network. Disappointing Roon doesn’t support a feature inexpensive boxes like WiiM can. Can you point me to more information about Roon Ready Relay? If release of the feature isn’t imminent I may be forced to begin researching network audio transports as potential alternatives to RAAT. Seems a shame to be in this position. There’s so much to like about Roon. I can’t imagine I’m the only Roon user with a collection of vinyl.
I do this already using an inexpensive Roon extension called rooPlay. It uses Roon’s Internet radio stations feature to stream lossless audio locally at up to 24-bits, 192 kHz.
Using rooPlay, I stream vinyl from my Rega P8 turntable to any or all rooms in the house, some with room or headphone specific convolution filters applied using Roon’s convolution engine. The solution is amazing. Only potential negative is that it adds about eight seconds of latency. This is usually beneficial to me since it gives me time to return my listening chair after lowering the tonearm.
It requires a Raspberry Pi 4 ($35 plus microSD card and $8 power supply). Depending on what device is doing the analog to digital conversion, you may need a S/PDIF to USB adapter. I’m using this one:
You should be able to use this adapter to connect the optical output on the WiiM to the Raspberry Pi. The author of rooPlay has easy to follow YouTube video instructions for flashing the microSD card and adding the extension to Roon.

Thanks David. I had just begun researching rooPlay when I saw your post. It may be the solution I seek. Although a simpler solution would be appreciated. Using WiiM’s signal transport I can render an analog source via one WiiM and stream it to one or more other WiiM boxes. But, my Roon kit uses a mix of end point brands / models. So using RAAT as my audio transport would be ideal. I’m trying to understand why RAAT doesn’t support a feature that a couple of cheap boxes from WiiM can VERY easily manage.
You need to ask Roon Labs why not, it just doesn’t yet.
As Arlen started, Roon Ready Relay is a future solution that has been announced, nothing more has been teased beyond a few budget turntables, you can find threads on this forum or on the Roon blog announcement.
This is the announcement:
The approach of Roon will use the new Roon Audio API.
I will also implement it in the next release of rooPlay. With this you don’t have to set up the rooExtend Radio Station any more making the setup much easier
