Android Auto - Album Name

Hi

When I play an album in my car via Roon Arc and Android Auto, album names are not displayed. I get ‘Unknown Album’ for all tracks / albums in the album display field.

Is this a known issue and is Roon actively looking at this?

If I use an iPhone, the album name is correctly displayed in CarPlay.

Thanks.

Hi @Winston_Joseph-Ward1,

Thank you for the report. This isn’t normal behavior and we’ll require a few more details to investigate.

What is the specific Android phone and make/model of Android Auto head unit you’re using? Do you connect to Android Auto using Bluetooth or USB?

Does album art display? What about other metadata fields, like Track Titles, Artist Names, composer names, etc?

Thanks Connor.

This issue has happened on a Samsung S24 and S25 Ultra respectively, it has also happened on a Samsung Z Fold 6 and a OnePlus Open v2. Always the same issue the display states ‘unknown album’.

I am using Android Auto via a USB cable and I am using a stock head unit for an Audi A4 2019 model.

Everything else displays correctly except the album name.

If I switch to Tidal or Spotify or Plex, then album name is displayed so it is just Roon Arc which doesn’t display the album name.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the thorough update @Winston_Joseph-Ward1. I assume this happens with both streaming and local tracks in ARC?

Are you able to check the MMI firmware version on the head unit for the A4? This particular information isn’t logged in ARC and will be crucial for expediting this investigation. To find the Infotainment firmware version on your 2019 Audi A4, navigate to the “Settings” menu, then “Version Information” and look for the “Software Version” displayed.

We’re going to share these head-unit details with ARC development and attempt to isolate what’s happening in-house. We’ll follow up as soon as we’ve confirmed additional details.

Thank you again!
