Summary:
Is the Android ARC build number wrong, or is my phone a lost cause?
Detail:
With EA 1458 / 297 being announced today, I checked my phone and had updates available for both Roon (Beta) and ARC (Beta).
After applying the updates, Roon (Beta) correctly shows 1458 and ARC is still only on 296. Today is the first time I’ve seen ARC EA 296 on my phone. Prior to this I could only get it to 295 (which was production) even though I was enrolled in early access / beta.
If I unenroll ARC from Beta and do a complete uninstall / reinstall cycle, here are the exact version numbers I get:
Production
Roon ARC 1.0.56
Build 100295
RoonARC 1.0 (295)
If I re-enroll ARC to Beta and do a complete uninstall / reinstall cycle, I get
Early Access
Roon ARC 1.0.56
Build 100296
RoonARC 1.0 (296)
Did Android ARC get behind a version number, or as stated earlier is my phone a lost cause?
Another thought is that ARC 297 still needs to be released to the play store, but if that’s the case it was odd that I saw updates for both Roon and ARC in the play store today.
@vova Can you please confirm if ARC 297 for Android was released? I received an ARC update yesterday, but my Pixel 8 Pro is only on 1.0.56 / 296. (I just tested on a separate factory reset phone, and it is also only on ARC 296 when I switched it to EA.)
I have one issue that I want to confirm is resolved (I believe it is) and a separate issue that I want to report on, but I don’t want to waste effort when I’m not confident I have the correct EA release of ARC installed. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip @mackid1993. For whatever reason, I forgot you could do that, so I’ve been on ARC 297 for the last day or two.
With the latest ARC 298 rollout, any issues I had with the play store are gone.
I uninstalled the ARC 297 apk version and I went back to the play store. Using the play store to install Roon ARC (Beta) / early access I now see the following version numbers under ARC settings:
