Android - High res audio driver in Roon Arc

Really great to be able to play bit perfect audio from Roon Arc now however I’m finding there are still quite a few issues with the driver (admittedly this is still marked as a beta) … In order for the driver to work at all you have to disable USB audio routing in Android.

Whilst this solves the issue of bit perfect playback the problem now is I want to be able to use my headphones whilst attached to my phone with other apps as well e.g. youtube and podcasts. The moment the roon driver kicks in I can’t seem to switch control to another app without re-enabling audio routing in the settings and replugging my dongle dac so the sound from the other app will just play out of the phone speakers.

I believe last year Android 14 introduced lossless playback natively… Features and APIs Overview  |  Android Developers

Is there any plan to support this in Roon arc? If not is there a reason for that? I just feel for a high-end player like Roon this implementation of high res needs to be less temperamental and should be a higher priority given Android’s popularity in portable audio.

Having said that Roon Arc is great and I love being able to access my library on the go so big thanks to the team!
