Description of Issue

After latest update Roon does not recognize my Samsung S23+ phone as an audio device. If I reboot my phone it appears for a few seconds, and I can start playback, then it disappears and I get the select a zone message. This happens with or without the hildac usb dac plugged in. Roon ARC seems ok. This is recent, all worked before.

Hi @Mark_Pocock,

Thank you for your post and for your patience while the team worked through our queue to reach you.

We’ve pulled diagnostics from your Roon Server to investigate logs more precisely, and the Zone loss with the S23+ to which you referred in your post is clear. Specifically, your Roon Server loses sight of the S23+ Zone on the network, and then destroys the playback stream after 5 seconds.

The underlying cause of the network connection loss to the S23+ isn’t clear from logging, but the most common culprits incluce:

  1. a router firmware update or antivirus software update made changes to a firewall, and you’ll need to add both Roon and RAATServer as exceptions again.

  2. there are DHCP certificate assignment or UPnP subscription renewal settings on your router that are causing this S23+ to reannounce itself rhythmically on he network with different identifying credentials. Similar to 1) above, you can probably verify this is in your router web administration.

  3. the Samsung phone itself is connecting to a different WiFi network, subnet, or access point. Since ARC is functional, I would strongly suspect this is the cause of your problems. Is the ASUS RT AC3100 the only piece of network hardware in your home?

We’ll keep an eye out for your response. Thank you!
