Any Reason to Remain on Roon 1.8?

As per the title is there any reason to remain on Roon 1.8 anymore?

One of the main reasons as to why I stayed on Roon 1.8 is due to the fact that Roon 2.0 couldn’t be used offline, but I believe this has been resolved with Roon 2.0.28.

Is there any other reason that I may be missing out on as to why I should remain on Roon 1.8?

Probably not if your Roon server is capable of running Roon 2.0

The one reason was offline - that is Roon 2.0 would stop working if there’s no internet access. This design “decision” (however insane in my opinion) was corrected at some point and so Roon 2.0+ does not have such a handicap anymore.

IE: no reason I can see to stay behind at this time.

Not unless some hardware restriction is preventing it.

Some may disagree, but I feel it’s a little more stable.

If you don’t have the need to use Arc or some of the recent ‘new’ features and don’t wish to see them in the UI, 1.8 ticks the boxes. Does for me.

Each to their own and YMMV :innocent:

Yes, I disagree. Roon 2.0 works perfectly for me as does Roon ARC.

Eventually some certificate will expire and it’ll break.

Sometimes Roon’s updates break some things for some users

I sometimes miss the speed and simplicity of the 1.7 and 1.8 version era
Not that they were without their issues as well. Everything just felt a little bit quicker, besides search which was much quicker

Thanks everyone for their view.

Roon Arc was the main reason I was tempted to upgrade to 2.0
