Any technical obstacles to MQA decoding in Roon?

Exactly. And that’s why PS Audio’s news today is tantalizing to any Roon user. MQA is considering the licensing of a full unfold in software.

You’ve lost me there. Over the short but painful history of MQA, my observation is that “MQA the company” has determined that full decoding needs to be tied to hardware. Admittedly, the Bridge II isn’t a DAC, but it’s still hardware that only works with one DAC, or a particular company’s DACs, depending on how you count.

One thing’s certain: Time will tell (“just who has fell and who’s been left behind,” as the Nobel laureate said).

If the up take of hardware decoding remains patchy, they may consider offering full software decoding in the future. Hardware licensing will get a bigger pie for now.

Well, they know they are dead anyways:
If Apple or Spotify dont buy them----cioa.
If they buy them, they are considered to be another lossy format.
