· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices
Describe the issue
I can not transfer my Apple Music library into my internal SSD. I have put over 5 hours trying everything that I can think of with no success. I have made already made a post to the community for help and although there have been a few suggestions, this is not worked. Is it not possible to have the Roon tech support contact me outside of this forum to resolve my issue. Thanks Frank.

Description of Issue
I am having difficulty adding the ripped tracks from my Apple Music Library into the internal SSD installed inside my new Nucleus One. The SSD has been formatted. The Apple Music Library is on a M1 iMac connected via Ethernet on the same network. Below are several screenshots in terms of what I have tried so far.
I think that you’re going back to front in the process. You seem to be trying to add the music library on your Mac as a Watched Folder on your Nucleus, whereas you should be using your Mac’s Finder to access the internal SSD used for music storage.
Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your reply and help. I do seem to be having quite the time with this and yes it would appear that I’m working backwards as I just keep trying the next thing hoping that it would work.
I have gone back to the internal storage link that you have sent. When using finder and the SMB connection smb://NUCLEUSONE/Data/Storage/Internal/Storage I get the following prompt: There was a problem connecting to the server “NUCLEUSONE” The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
The network connection appears to be working, in terms of the server name and IP address I’m assuming that these are correct although I’m not certain how I would go about confirming that.
Might you have any ideas as to where I should turn to next.
Thanks, Frank
From the screenshot of the Web Administration Interface you posted it appears as though the internal SSD for storage has been formatted and available. Can you confirm this by posting a screenshot of Roon’s > Storage screen? It should have an entry for the Nucleus One’s Internal Storage showing…
Thanks for writing in and sharing your report! On top of what @Geoff_Coupe has mentioned above, I’m curious if you’ve also included your mac login credentials when attempting to connect your network share? It’s difficult to tell based on your screenshot.
In addition to this, if you could reproduce the issue and share a set of Roon Server logs from your Nucleus, you can use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
If you are trying to copy your music TO the Nucleus One, then you need to access the internal drive of the NucleusOne on your Mac’s Finder, open it as a window and copy it over.
Setting up a storage location on the Nucleus, like you were attempting, would keep the music on your remote Mac and will not move those files to the NucleusOne.
I am trying to add my music collection to the internal SSD on my nucleus one. Yes, the drive shows as being formatted. I have been directed to use an SMB connection and to follow the guidelines in the article called “nucleus internal storage” from the Roon help centre. This is what I have done…
I have opened finder and entered the following, smb://NUCLEUSONE/Data/Storage/InternalStorage I then get a prompt that reads "There was a problem connecting to the server “NUCLEUSONE” The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again. I know that the network connection (Ethernet) is working, I have certainly tried again x10. Can someone tell me how to check the server name and my IP address. I am getting quite frustrated with trying to get this set up and may have to resort to returning the unit.
Thanks in advance, Frank
Unfortunately it’s at a standstill and I’m not getting anywhere. Apparently I have 30 days from the time of purchase to send it back. I was really hoping it would work out as it preforms great with Qobus, but I need my library. It was either this or a Mac Mini M4 but sending this back is going to be a hassle because I’m in Canada, and trying to get a refund of taxes and brokerage might be more painful then actually getting this unit working.
I am currently carrying out pretty much the same process as you, moving a library from an external HDD to an internal SSD in my Nucleus. I am a Mac user like yourself. The HDD is connected to one of the USB ports on the Nucleus. Using the Finder I have accessed the Nucleus and connected to the attached HDD and the folders it holds. Opening a second finder window once again accessing the Nucleus then navigating to the internal SSD. It’s then a matter of copying the files from the HDD to the SSD. A slow, tedious process. https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/faq-how-do-i-move-my-collection-to-a-new-folder-hard-drive-or-nas-will-i-lose-my-edits#Preparation
Hi Rob, thanks for your comments. I spent the afternoon messing with this again. It’s quite likely a recent Apple issue. Unfortunately if I address it with Apple they will take the third party out rule and blame it on Roon. I’m still waiting for Roon support to address the issue, hoping they can do a screen share cause I’m completely done.
The process would be a lot quicker if you plugged the drive into the Mac and just opened the finder window to the internal drive. Then you are only doing one hop. As it is now, you are sending the file from the USB drive to the Mac and back again to the internal Nucleus drive, a double transmit.
But it’s still a pretty slow process. How nice it would be if Roon provided at least basic file operations on Rock/Nucleus: copy/cut/paste. Or at least the ability to create observable folders on the Rock/Nucleus internal drive.
Might anybody know if Roon has a live customer service representative phone number. I’m still having difficulty with what seems like a simple problem and they’re not responding.
I know that when I added my music library to my Apple iMac when it was the core there were simply zero issues.
