· I use a single personal router not provided by my ISP
ARC Status
· ARC is *Not Ready*
Roon Error Code
· None of these are listed. It simply says "TIMEDOUT" or similar.
System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.
· Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable. [You can learn more about firewall exceptions with Roon here.](https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/firewall)
Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon? ARC is still *Not Ready*
Don't give up yet.
· I'm stuck. I'd like to create a post to ask Roon Community for help.
Describe the issue
I can access Roon by ARC form my iphone plus tailscale. I can not when I'm using ARC on AK SP3000T and Tailscale. any ideas why
Describe your network setup
Roon conected with switch and single router . lates roon core on NUK
Thanks for the details on ARC working from your iPhone with Tailscale, but not on the AK SP3000T.
Is this happening when the SP3000T is on the same cellular network, or on WiFi? If you have an iPhone hotspot turned on, does ARC on the SP3000T connect that way?
One thing to settle first, because it explains the ARC status and saves you chasing it. Your connection is behind carrier-grade NAT, which means your ISP does not give you an inbound port to forward. ARC will keep saying Not Ready and there is nothing you or we can change about that. Tailscale is not a workaround for a broken setup in your case, it is the supported way to use ARC on a connection like yours:
So your iPhone working through Tailscale is ARC working as intended for you, and the question is why the SP3000T does not do the same.
One test tells us where to look, and it takes a minute. Delete the ARC from A&K and install it again from scratch, put the SP3000T on the same Wi-Fi as your Roon Server, switch Tailscale off on the player, and open ARC. On your home network ARC talks to the server directly, so neither Tailscale nor remote access is involved.
Please tell us what you see on that screen.
If ARC connects, the player is fine and the problem is specifically Tailscale on the SP3000T. If it does not connect even then, the player cannot reach your server on its own network at all.
Either answer points at Astell&Kern rather than at Roon, since they build their own Android system on these players and we have no visibility into how it handles networking or VPN apps. But which of the two it is decides what you ask them, and that is worth knowing before you write to them.
I fallow a steps - now ARC do not want to start on AK 3000
Let me clarrify your statement on AK opperating system - after lates update we have a normal android with full access to Google play store when you can download any aplication - this is including ARC
I can use other online players like Tidal without problems on AK using their dedicated app from Google store .
Thanks for running that test, and for the correction on the SP3000T firmware.
Before going further, we need to know exactly what “does not want to start” looks like, because different failures have different fixes:
Does ARC close as soon as you open it, or stay on the splash screen?
Or does it open, but fail at the login step, or show a web page error?
A screenshot of whatever you see would help a lot. Please also let us know:
Your ARC version and SP3000T firmware version
Whether you installed ARC from the Play Store or from the APK
If the problem is at login, a fix that has worked on other A&K players is:
Install Google Chrome from the Play Store and set it as the default browser in Android settings.
Update Android System WebView from the Play Store.
Go to Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Storage and choose Clear storage, then restart the player.
With the SP3000T on the same Wi-Fi as your Roon Server and Tailscale off, open ARC and sign in again.
Once ARC works on your home network, we’ll look at Tailscale on the SP3000T separately. If ARC still won’t run even on your home network with Tailscale off, you’ll want to take the details to Astell&Kern, since that points to how the player runs the app.
Thanks for the screenshot and the firmware version.
The firmware number on its own does not tell us what we need, since Astell&Kern use their own numbering and it does not map to an Android version. Two things from the player would:
Settings, then About device, and tell us the Android version.
The ARC version, from Settings, then Apps, then Roon ARC.
You mentioned you can install from the Play Store now. Please also confirm whether this ARC came from the Play Store or from an APK file, since that was the one question from our last message still open.
Thank you for the photo. That tells us ARC starts but never gets past the splash screen.
Please clear ARC’s saved data and try once more: open Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Storage, tap Clear storage (or Clear data), then close ARC completely and open it again. On a clean start ARC should show its terms or sign-in screen within a few seconds. Please let us know whether it gets that far or stays on the splash screen, and whether this copy of ARC came from the Play Store or from an APK file.
Thanks for clearing the data, we are glad ARC starts now.
Please try one more test to take every VPN out of the picture. Uninstall Tailscale from the SP3000T, along with any other VPN, DNS filter, or ad-blocking app on the player. Then please open the Android settings and check that no VPN profile is listed and that Always-on VPN is off. Restart the player, make sure it is on the same Wi-Fi as your Roon Server (not a guest or isolated network), and open ARC.
If it still does not connect, please tell us exactly what ARC shows: a screenshot of the screen, or the exact wording of any message, and whether it keeps spinning or stops.
Please also check one more thing: does ARC on your iPhone connect when the phone is on your home Wi-Fi with Tailscale turned off? That tells us whether the problem is on the network side or on the SP3000T.
