ARC Diaries, an occasional series. April 2023

The ARC experience is still horrible.

I understand there are some server-side issues. Are these any closer to being resolved? Are these the cause of my continued woes?

(As always, I should caveat my experience by wondering if it’s something I’m doing wrong! )

So let’s see…

Over the last couple of days we’ve done a few of lengthy drives. We’d fire up the ARC, pick an album & it would then lull us into a false sense of security by playing the first couple of tracks as though all was well before grinding to a stuttering halt & presenting me with a crash report. (So whoever’s on the receiving those will probably be sick of receiving ones with my email address on!)

Having just run a couple of consecutive Roon Core updates, I fired up ARC to check something out, only to have it crash on me while I was typing.

So that’s another incoming crash report.

In other news, I notice that when I look at my downloaded albums, it’s showing them as individual tracks. I can’t see an option to show them as albums, so what’s going on there?

Also, when I try to access my downloaded tracks, I often get the message saying the connection is poor. But there is no connection to be poor when it playing tracks from my phone, surely??

I really hope we can get back to those heady days when ARC would work seamlessly for hours & I really did have access to 20,000 albums on the go.
