Describe the issue

If I go in the car, use carplay/ARC. go about my day, then in the evening when I want to use ARC in carplay it just says loading non stop. Force closing the app on the phone and opening it in carplay will work. Will happen in the morning too, seems like it needs to be closed and reopened before functionning in Carplay. Using iphone 15 pro with latest ios 26

Describe your network setup

Asus RT-86u pro, port forwarding functioning well

Good day @Francis_Vermette !

Thanks for sharing this to us.

Can you please confirm for us which way of connecting to carplay do you use ?

Is it wired connection, wi-fi connection ? Or you have some adaptor that enables compatibility with carplay ?

Thanks!

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards.

It’s plugged in 100% of the time

Hi @Francis_Vermette,

Thank you for your report.

The logs that have reached our server from the ARC instance associated with your account have not yet captured the relevant incident, so we’ll need to ask a few more clarifying questions.

If you encounter the stale connection with CarPlay in the evening/morning again, are you able to use ARC without CarPlay? Do you see a green light/positive status next to the Cloud and Server connection in ARC Settings?

From your description, it sounds like the app holds onto a stale connection or expired session when left open for long periods between CarPlay sessions. The team has work in the pipeline to make connectivity more resilient when you are changing connections with ARC backgrounded throughout the day. Closing and re-opening the app to force a new connection will usually restore the issue for now.

We’ll watch for your response. Thank you!

Yes I can use ARC on my phone without any issues. This is purely a CarPlay thing. I do not use ARC very much outside of the car and I am not using it between the “CarPlay sessions”
Connection from device to server is always good.

It does seem to work if I go in and out of the car quickly when running an errand to perhaps de timing out is the issue.
Let me know if you need more information.

Hey @Francis_Vermette,

Thanks for following up! Are you able to test out and answer @connors above questions:

  1. Does the issue persist if you close Arc before leaving the car and reopen it when you return?
  2. When the issue occurs, do you see a green light/positive status next to the Cloud and Server connection in ARC Settings?

Thank you!

Hello Benjamin,
It happened today around 8:50am and 5:20pm eastern time.
If I close the app before getting in the car it usually works yes. I’ve tried it a few times.

In ARC settings all is good as I can use it on my phone fine and can even start music. I’ll have to check again when it happens that if I start music on the phone it plays in the car. I think it might but for sure the display would still say loading.

Good day @Francis_Vermette !

I hope you’re doing well today.

Can you please clarify with us a few details for further investigation!

You were saying that you have to restart the app for making it work with car play.

Do you mean that you juts minimize and then open back or you kill it from “task manager” and then open from cold start ?

Also, can you please clarify what is running circles when the problem happens, your iOS app or the app inside CarPlay ?

And you also claimed that it happens after an active day of use. Can you please add details on that ? You just sit to the car with the phone locked, connect it to the car play and then open ARC on carplay ? Or you open it on Both, iPhone and CarPLay ? Or only on iPhone ?

Thanks!

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards.

For the app. Everything always works on the phone. Even if I plug in to the car. The car screen will display loading but I could use the app on the phone just fine. I can start the music but the display won’t show anything other than loading.

What I have to do is force quit the app on the phone and the reopen it (phone or CarPlay) and it will load and work just fine.

It happens after hours of no use. Use CarPlay in morning, won’t work at night. Next morning will not work either but I just have to force quit and reopen the app and everything works.

Hi @Francis_Vermette,

Thank you for clarifying. One last detail - what is the make/model of the infotainment/CarPlay head unit in the car? If it came with the vehicle, you can just share the make/model of car.

This information should suffice for development to take action on the report.

We’ll post here as soon as we have more information from the team concerning our investigation.

I have the Subaru Outback 2022 which has the Denso head unit. Seems to be Denso 1.0 as the Denso 1.5 was shipped with 2023 and newer cars

Thank you @Francis_Vermette for the fast response. We’ll pass this information along to the team to expedite their investigation into a fix.
