ARC for large libraries

Well, maybe it’s time to dispel the incompatibility between the two. In the coming years, more and more people will have large libraries, and ARC will still not work? I don’t know if it needs to be redesigned from scratch, but it’s very frustrating not to be able to use it due to the size of a library. The team should explain what hardware features are required for it to work (on smartphones) or why 5G isn’t enough for data transfer. Why devices only heat up with the ARC app and not the others, and why Plexi can perform much better. I think many people are tired of ARC’s unreliability issues, so we’re asking for a quick fix for everyone’s benefit. A music app that doesn’t work depending on the number of discs doesn’t make sense, just as asking for ARC to work with a smaller core doesn’t make sense. Instead, make a “lite” version of ARC that works well by removing everything that isn’t necessary. Thanks.

Who are the „we“?

I need to do an update. ARC has been working flawlessly on my iPhone 13 for about three weeks now (with 792,000 tracks, remember). The only two real changes were:

  1. Updating to iOS 26 a few weeks ago, first in beta, now the final version.
  2. Clearing the Rock core section of “skipped” files; there were a few hundred files in various audio and photo formats. Now I keep it constantly empty; perhaps the library updates more cleanly and smoothly.

In recent weeks, I’ve made many additions to the library; the system updates smoothly and seamlessly, the phone doesn’t overheat, and the app doesn’t crash at all, neither on Wi-Fi nor 5G.
It’s difficult for me to figure out exactly what happened, as it seems ARC hasn’t been updated in the meantime.
Another thing that seems to work is when updating after adding discs to the library, do things slowly, waiting for the program to update.
We’ll see if the app continues to work so well. I imagine it should be perfect with a new iPhone 17?

Today I had to reinstall. I think I know what the problem is. It’s in the “Home” “Added” section: after adding disks to the Core and leaving many disks in the “Home” server, the ARC Home page sometimes fails to update. While the III/“Albums” section always updates without difficulty. Also, the “Home” “Played” section always updates without difficulty. Now the app is starting to become unstable (the phone gets hot, the app constantly crashes, etc.) ALWAYS when the “Home” “Added” fails to update. Reinstalling the app solves the problem. If you don’t touch the Server Home too much, the ARC app can work for weeks without problems. It seems to be a bug in the app, as the “III/” “Album” section always updates without any issues (even in the “Show hidden tracks and album” version). The “Listen Later” section also always updates without any issues.
One strange thing is that on Fridays and Saturdays of the week, there seem to be more problems, and sometimes the connection isn’t perfect, even at home with Wi-Fi.

I’ve done further testing and can confirm the issue is the same as above: the ARC “Home” section doesn’t update properly when discs are inserted into the server’s Home section. The “Albums” section, however, always updates without any issues. Without this issue, ARC would always function stably. I’m adding this message to the feedback section again and I expect the ARC team to resolve this issue soon.
