· Schiit Vestri on Samsung Fold 5 – Lossless but no sound


On my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (Android 14, latest ARC from Play Store), I’m seeing an issue with the Schiit Vestri dongle DAC and ARC’s USB driver (BETA):
• With USB driver (BETA) enabled:
Vestri is detected, ARC shows a Lossless/bit‑perfect (or Enhanced) signal path. Playback appears to run normally in the UI, but there is no audio output at all.
• With USB driver (BETA) disabled:
ARC routes audio through Android’s standard path. Vestri plays fine, but everything is shown as High Quality, downsampled to 48 kHz.

On the same phone, other dongles (A&K HC5, All BT streamers) work correctly with the USB beta driver.

Vestri works flawlessly on my iPhone 16, so this looks specific to the Vestri + ARC USB beta + Fold 5 Android

Thank you for your report.

This particular dongle DAC is fairly new and was only released this year. USB DACs have a wide variety of custom firmware and USB drivers and our team has to add custom implementation in many cases in order to guarantee lossless on Android. This DAC is on the list to address, but it will take some time for this work to proceed through the pipeline.

That said, this particular failure is unique, and we’ve made sure to escalate it to development to make sure we test it directly. We’ll share updates here as they become available.
