Description of Issue

I have a Vodafone Cable subscription (in Germany), thus I could not use ARC so far due to the DS-Lite tunnel issue (no IPv4 address). I would like to thank the Roon-Team for the hard work on a solution to this issue, which resolved in recent updates to RoonOS and the Roon software.

In the Roon remote app, I now have a checkmark under the ARC settings. So the updates to provide IPv6 compatibility seemed to work (Port is set manually for both IPv4 and IPv6).
However, ARC still is not able to connect to the Core.

ARC states (after login with my credentials):
ā€žOnly available on your network
Your core isnā€˜t configured for access outside of you network.ā€œ

Is there still an update to the ARC app necessary to provide IPv6 compatibility? Or could it be a setting in the router? The port is open, as the Roon remote app confirms by the checkmark…

Many thanks for your help in advance!

i have the exact same situation with a nucleus core

Same issue here as well

Description of Issue

IPv6 issue: ARC still not working. ARC states:

ā€žOnly available on your network
Your core isnā€˜t configured for access outside of your networkā€œ

If I check with the Roon remote app, settings, ARC, I have a checkmark! But in reality, it does not work.

I understand your frustration, I also have the same message. I updated to full fibre to the house to enhance my Roon experience (which it did), but sadly it made ARC inoperative. My ISP has been helpful, but the protocols that they use currently do not cope with ARC’s needs.

Do you also see the checkmark in the Roon remote app?
According to this ā€žself testā€œ, ARC should work, but it does not…

Hi @Tom_Kramer,

Thank you for your patience and please accept our apologies for the delay.

Are you able to share a screenshot of the IPv6 Settings in the Fritz!Box UI?

  1. Click ā€œHome Networkā€ in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click ā€œNetworkā€ in the ā€œHome Networkā€ menu.
  3. Click on the ā€œNetwork Settingsā€ tab.
  4. Click ā€œAdditional Settingsā€ in the section ā€œLAN Settingsā€ to display all of the settings.
  5. Click the ā€œIPv6 Settingsā€ button.

Vodafone’s DS-Lite can still often interfere with port forwarding or IPv6 pinholing. The full setup will clarify what’s happening.

Additionally, who is your mobile service provider?

We’ll work with you from there. Thank you!

Thanks for your assistance! @connor

Please find some screenshots of the section below. As I donā€˜t know if this is security relevant I have removed the ā€žLocal DNS Serverā€œ address from the screenshot.

My mobile provider is Deutsche Telekom/T Mobile.

@connor could you pls have a look at the screenshots you requested?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Tom_Kramer,

Thank you for your patience. Please try enabling ā€œAssign DNS server and IPv6 prefix (IA_PD)ā€. If Vodafone is properly prefixing, then you should be able to reach ARC via the available IPv6 address.

Additionally, on your mobile device, navigate to https://www.whatismyip.com and verify that your mobile service provider is also using IPv6.

Thanks for the advice @connor , but it did not change anything unfortunately. It is still the case that the Roon remote app shows that ARC should work and then ARC states that the Core cannot be reached…

The mobile device shows both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, so this should be fine…

Did you go to the website, or, did you looked in the phone’s system and saw both listed?

Hello!
Same problem, ARC cannot be accessed from outside.
ISP Vodafone Germany
FritzBox 6591 rented
1 repeater, no mesh
Pc Lenovo i3
Roon Core ethernet connected
Both addresses appear on the website
IPv4 is the same on all devices
Different IPv6 on devices

I used the website that @connor mentioned…

Hi @5ORYN,

IPv6 functionality, like IPv4, will depend on where your Core is hardwired in the setup you just outlined. I recommend testing with the Core hardwired to the main upstream router, as repeaters, second routers, switches, and any third-party firewalls or VPNs can all introduce filtering, network address translation, improper IPv6 prefixing, and other confounding variables that make remote support a near impossibility.

Once you’ve simplified the network for troubleshooting, please post any relevant screenshots of your Fritz!Box web administration like those above.

@Tom_Kramer, there’s likely something still improperly prefixed. I suggest you try enabling the other settings related to IPv6 Prefixing - Assign DNS Server, Prefix (IA_PD) and IPv6 Address (IA_NA). and performing router restart.

Thanks @connor I will try that today.

Besides the settings you are referring to, are these of any relevance?

Edit: The 3rd option you mentioned as to Prefixing does not work either (after router restart), unfortunately.

ARC just does not ā€žfindā€œ the Core despite open port and this setting…weird. Roon Remote app shows a checkmark under the ARC settings.
