Describe the issue

Why is ARC not playing my downloaded files, once i leave my home WLAN? I thought ARC is exactly capable of this, but hitting „Play“ or accessing the Downloads-Folder in ARC, the app remains dead silent.

I have enabled the „Offline-Mode“ checkbox, but same Problem.

What’s going on here?!

Hi @Oliver_Knieps,

Thank you for your report. That’s definitely not expected behavior for ARC, as anything locally downloaded to the phone should be accessible in Offline Mode. Just to confirm, is there available storage space in ARC Settings?

Looking at ARC diagnostics that automatically reach our servers when you post, the problem seems to be with the session layer. The profile ID for the ARC session became erroneously nullified at some point on May 7 before you activated Offline Mode or left the local network.

We’ll take a closer look at this log period with development and QA to see what might have happened to the session layer or framework. In the meantime, try logging out/back into ARC on your home network and switching to offline mode again. Please let us know if these issues with Offline mode continue with your locally downloaded content after taking this step.

We’ll watch closely for your response.

Hello Connor, thanks for your reply. Enclosed find a screenshot, there is plenty of Space left, so all downloads were saved.

Unfortunately, logging out and back in of my Room Server did not help., I have tried this last week.

The Playback only starts when I am connected to my roon server. Once the server is off, there is no playback whatsoever.

Hope to hearing from you soon.

Oliver

Hi @Oliver_Knieps ,
Thanks for trying that test for us. I’ve added the results to the ticket we opened with our developers. I can’t give you an exact timeline but once the developers take a look we should have some next steps or an update for you.

When you click on tracks under the album cover on the phone, are the tracks there?

No, there are no Tracks at any time visible once my Roon server ist off. The Tracks only appear with the downloaded tracks when I am connected to the Roon Server.

With the enclosed screenshots you can see that all three Albums are downloaded completely and there are no tracks visible whatsoever.

Regards

This has happened to me recently with a couple of albums that I downloaded and were shown as downloaded. The tracks should be visible even when offline as is the case with my other albums

I’m having the same issue as you will see below

Thanks for those additional details @Oliver_Knieps & @Norman_Spector . We’ll let you know once the team has had a chance to review this case, thanks in advance for your patience!

Hi @Oliver_Knieps, @Norman_Spector,

Development has a ticket in the pipeline for this issue and we expect we’ll release a fix quickly.

Before this problem occurred, did either of you restore a Backup of your RoonServer database or move your RoonServer database to a new machine?

We’ve added some code recently that prevents ARC from deleting downloads when you migrate the server. We’d like to confirm whether these conditions were triggered for you outside of the logged period we collected. Thank you!

Hi Connor

No change to Roon core

But did migrate my library to a new QNAP

Should also mention that ARC is not longer syncing my library --either added or played --, though I am able to search for albums and listen online and offline to albums I downloaded previously

Hello Connor,
I did neither. What I did was a backup as requested by Roon from time to time. The Problem with the playback I am writing about occured from day one i‘m afraid. :tipping_hand_man:t2:

Hi @Oliver_Knieps & @Norman_Spector,
Thanks for providing that additional information. We’ve added it to our ticket with the developers. At this point, I believe we have everything we need. We’ll keep you updated here once a fix has been released.
