Describe the issue

my new ORBI mesh router I have turned on UPnP. i have turned UPnP off and then on. Still, I get message ARC "not ready". I don't know how to configure port forwarding manually. can someone walk me through that on the phone?

Describe your network setup

my ISP is TaosNet. My Mesh Wifi is ORBI RBE772. I want to use my iPad and iPhone for roon arc. roon server is on my mac mini.

Hello @Tobin_Clark ,

Thanks for reaching out. We do not offer phone support, but we can certainly assist here on our forum. As for configuring port forwarding, you’d need to use the info displayed in Roon Settings → ARC , and put it in your router’s port forwarding section. I was able to locate this guide for you:

Thanks. I have tried to do what is required. see screenshots.

Hi @Tobin_Clark,

Thanks for the screenshots.

Your ARC diagnostics show double NAT. Specifically, the router_external_ip is a private address (192.168.x.x), which means there is another router or ISP gateway in front of your Orbi.

Because of this, UPnP on the Orbi cannot fully open the ARC port, which is why ARC shows “Not Ready.”

What to do:

  • If possible, set the Orbi to Access Point (AP) mode, so only your ISP device handles routing.
  • Alternatively, you’ll need to forward the ARC port (usually 55000) on both the ISP router and the Orbi.

Please let us know whether your Orbi is in Router mode or AP mode, and whether there’s an ISP modem/router in front of it.

Thank you. When I return from traveling in about ten days I will check on this.

Hey @Tobin_Clark,

We removed the thead timer to ensure you have time to run through the above steps once you’ve returned.

Until then, safe travels!

Hi @Tobin_Clark,

It’s also worth reaching out to TaosNET over email (they have a contact page here) to inquire if they use carrier-grade NAT on their accounts and whether they have dedicated IPv4 addresses available, if so.

Hi @Tobin_Clark,

We wanted to circle back on this thread to see if we could provide any additional suggestions. We’re eager to ensure you’ve found a solution to this port forwarding blockage and can use ARC on the go.

Please keep this open as I will be working on this issue this coming week. Thank you.

Understood @Tobin_Clark, keep us posted on how things go!

Hi @Tobin_Clark,

We’re circling back after another few weeks to see if there’s any other guidance or assistance we can provide here.

I am getting some outside help on this issue, but it will be awhile yet. I suppose you can close this and I can reopen it later?

Sounds good @Tobin_Clark - when you access the support typeform again, you can request to reopen this specific thread when you’re ready.

We’ll be on standby until then :+1:
