Description of Issue

I cannot connet with Roon ARC from outside of my home.

Here are the error-informations from the connection test. Please note that I masked the IP-address with x’s.

{
“ipv6_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:502,“error”:“error: Error: connect ECONNREFUSED 2001:xxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxxx, response code: undefined, body: undefined”},
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“89.hhh.iii.ppp”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“2001:aaa:bbb:ooo:ddd:eee:fff:ggg”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“status”: “status”: MultipleNatFound
,
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“19x.xxx.xxx.1”,“found_upnp”:true}
}

Unfortunally, I have no idea, how to fix the problem. Could it be a non-static-IP-address problem? How to solve this, if I cant get a static IP-address from my provider?

Perhabs someone can helb me. Many thanks in advance.

MultipleNatFound in the error message is caused because they use CG-NAT or DS Lite to provide a limited (shared) IPv4 address on top of an IPv6 network (which creates multiple layers of NAT, network address translation). However, IPv4 addresses provided in this way can’t be port forwarded.

You need a real IPv4 address for port forwarding. All it should take with 1&1 is calling them and asking for it. Should be painless, other 1&1 customers reported the same.

Hi @Thomas_Beganovic,

Please see @Suedkiez’s response above, as the issue you are encountering is specific to your internet service provider.

Please also note that, over in the Early Access section, several 1&1 users with your same modem/router are testing IPv6 compatibility. Ideally, this will allow for ARC to configure cellular access automatically, even with the DS-Lite that 1&1 has in place.

If you’re interested, feel free to download the Early Access builds from this link: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/roon-early-access-program
