ARC recently played/added not updating (ref#CJD8M2)

Hi,

FWIW last week I noticed the exact same behaviour. I was away for a week, using Roon ARC as a remote player and it wasn’t correctly updating the ‘Recent Activity / Played’ list on my iphone. I googled and found this thread.

Out of curiosity, as a test I downloaded Roon ARC to my ipad to see if a new fresh device would correctly sync and update. But after initial syncing, it was updating in the same way as my iphone: omitting exactly the same albums …

When I got home, I tried to replicate and I found out everything worked as intended EXCEPT FOR when I queue a set of albums (in Roon or in Roon ARC) for playback and let them play uninterrupted. (So the first album plays and the next queued album just plays automatically after that and the next one queued plays, the next plays, etc etc).

Checking ‘Recent Activity / Played’ in Roon shows each albumcover that is played (so all the played albums are in the list). This is expected behaviour.

→ but in Roon ARC only the first album that is selected and played pops up in the list. All the queued albums (and thus automatically played after the first one) albums do not pop up and are not displayed in the ‘played’ list…

I tried to refresh/reinstall/reboot dance, but the queued-played albums never made it into the listing in Roon ARC…

Maybe the original poster of this topic can tell if he is using the queueing of albums like I do? Or maybe try to replicate this by playing an album an queueing/playing a second, third album?

Hope this helps

Hey, I don’t think this is quite the same thing. When ARC gets in this state for me nothing gets added to recently played/added, no matter how it is queued (even if it is played from ARC itself)

When things are working properly, I have noticed there is some inconsistency between how ARC shows recently played and how the desktop app does, possible this is the issue you are describing, I haven’t compared to see what the exact differences are.

Hi Henry, I think you’re right; must be more to it in your particular setup… We’re a few weeks further now and my Roon ARC’s only problem is that it doesnt update the played items list with queue-played albums like I described above

However RA always is slow with updating all the other stuff (both newly added albums and played items). Mostly takes 30-60secs to catch-up when I open the app.

Since this (and your problem too) all has to do with keeping things updated/in sync with the master Roon, there might be a connection here.

On a positive note: for the rest I really think RA is fantastic; even when on the move. I’ve stayed for years on Roon v1.7 due to an old Mac Mini, but updating the whole shebang to a 2012 Mac Mini a few months ago and being abke to run v2.0 was like discovering a whole new Roon experience.

So I’m on a relatively freshly installed system. I know it’s a pain, but you could try doing a fresh install (or maybe another small test-install on another computer) to see if that makes any difference for you…

Hope this helps,

Erik.

@benjamin The queue-played albums missing sounds very much like this issue in the main app that was just reported here as you know:

Thank you for the long-standing patience @Henry_Buckle and for chiming in on your issue @Erik_van_t_Woud.

Progress on this has been slow, and difficult to pin down, and we’re hoping to have more information to share around the situation with the next upcoming release. There is nothing in this release that will help with the issue, unfortunately, but it will provide us with additional diagnostic information that should help move the needle. :+1:
