Does anyone know when we will be able to control other speakers from the ARC app on iOS / iPadOS devices? My whole reason for looking into Roon/ARC was to control my remote speakers for playback. Looks like this can only be done via the fat client on MacOS? Is there a web app that speakers can be controlled from? Thanks in advance!
Roon ARC is for use when away from your home network and only supports the built in audio of the device or USB devices connected to the ARC device.
For simple remote control of your Roon system using your phone or tablet when at home and connected to the same network as the Roon Server, you need to use the ‘Roon’ app (available on the devices app store). It used to be called ‘Roon Remote’ but was renamed a while back.
The Roon app works the same way as the ‘fat client’ except that some aspects of the MUSE DSP configuration are not avaliable because of a lack of screen space on phones. However, DSP settings can be configured on the desktop for an end point and remains in place when using the phone remote. DSP settings can also be saved to a set of presets on the desktop client which can then be selected on the phone client.
With Roon ARC you can stream music to devices that accept Chromecast or Airplay.
