Description of Issue

I am unable to get my Roon Arc connected. I am able to connect my Roon Arc while on my network. I am unable to connect remotely.
I have tried several times to get Arc set up. I have manually set my secondary Asus router to yes UPnP however Arc does not find the core.

Here is the error message I am receiving
{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“171.aaa.ddd.eee”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”}
}

The router that must first forward the external port is the router that is connected to the Internet, which seems to be the 3BB. When the 3BB forwards the external port, it must first do so to the Asus router, and then the Asus router must also forward the port to Roon on the Mac Mini.

You can try enabling UPnP on the 3BB as well, which might make it work automatically, or set up manual rules: A rule on the 3BB to forward the external IP / port to the IP (and same port) on the Asus, and another rule on the Asus to forward it to the Mini.

Alternatively, you can try setting the 3BB into bridge mode, so that it only acts as an Internet modem and does no routing (i.e., in this case the 3BB forwards all traffic to the Asus router, so no forwarding rules are necessary on the 3BB, just the one on the Asus to forward it to the Mini).

Hi @frank_merkley ,

Have you been able to resolve the issue with @Suedkiez suggestions? If you are still having issues with getting this working, can you please let us know what you’ve tried and we can continue from there? Thanks!

Hello, sorry for my delays as I have been traveling extensively (without Roon Arc ) :frowning:
I have both of my two routers set up as recommended. Both are UPnP enabled

Still getting same error message when attempting to connect to Arc
{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“171.aaa.jjj.kkk”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.2.1”,“found_upnp”:true,“error”:“doaction request return statuscode: UnknownError”}
}
Appreciate some guidance for next steps

That ISP might use CGNAT. I would give them a call and ask if you are on CGNAT, and, if so, can you get off of it.

Hi @frank_merkley,

We wanted to check in on this thread since some time has passed. Have you been able to access ARC on the go?

Hi Connor, I have not been successful. I attempted to eliminate the secondary router and connected my core to primary wifi however still no succes :frowning:
I can also confirm that UPnP was enabled on the primary router.

Regards
Frank
