ARC Slow Connection/Can't Find

I have ARC installed on an Android OnePlus 7T, Roon running in an i7 nuc with ROC. ARC has been running fine for me (thanks!) on both wifi and phone data since it was released. I live on the East Coast of the US.

So - my wife and I are on vacation in Paris in a rented apartment. I tried to connect to my library using ARC and consistently get “Slow Connection” followed by “Can’t Find Core” whether I try over wifi or using T-Mobile phone data (I have an unlimited data plan.

I had someone reboot the nuc at home for me. No joy. Also did a speed check on the ip address at the rental apartment (attached). So I know the nuc is running and I know there’s enough speed on wifi on the ARC end, but still no joy.

Any ideas?

I had the same issue on an iPhone and tried the items you mentioned. What worked for me was remove the Roon ARC app and reload on your phone. Hope this helps

Thanks, but didn’t work for me.

Uninstalled ARC, reinstalled ARC. Login/Password, Roon recognizes me, knows the Roon Core, asks if I want to connect. I say, “Connect” gives terminal hang.

Here’s what Roon says after I login:

So it seems Roon’s servers recognize that my Roon library is up and running. But when I hit “Connect” the wheel keeps turning forever.

Hi @robert_vanarsdall,

I’m sorry that we didn’t get to your post earlier and that you’ve been without ARC on your trip.

A few things:

  1. Install ARC from the .apk installer on our Downloads page instead of through the play store to see if that helps. Here’s the link: https://download.roonlabs.net/builds/RoonMobile.apk

  2. Did you recently migrate your ROCK or restore your database from a backup?

  3. There are indications in diagnostics from today that ARC’s connection the Core is being actively rejected - this may be because the port assigned in Roon → Settings → Roon ARC is in use by another program. It might be worth trying to reassign the port number if you have a chance.

We’ll keep a lookout for your response. Thank you!

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you whether this works or not. I can tell you that it isn’t b. above - I haven’t migrated or restored the Roon Core recently.

Solution a. I tried installing the .apk file two different ways, using Chrome and using SAI installer. Both told me that the .apk was a downgrade to an installed version, even though I had uninstalled Roon ARC! Neither method would install.

Solution c. - Can’t perform that as I don’t have a computer with me to check the Roon Library port states. I’m traveling only with my phone.

Will be home tomorrow, but that won’t help in this experiment.

Just an update -

Got home and reinstalled ARC. After the login/password ARC found the core and library. All fine.

I can see no port conflict with the Roon Core.

So this’ll have to go in the box of unsolved problems. I was staying in an AirBnB, so I have no idea what internet provider they had or whether the hosts had the router configured to somehow limit streaming.
