I started to use smart downloads a few months ago. Even though I allowed Arc to use 220GB of storage, it only used 125GB in total, while my phone still has plenty of storage left. Screenshots below.
I’m sure that it’s not that the downloads are throttled, because A) it’s been like that for months. B) at some point I removed some downloaded albums and Arc downloaded other albums instead to take up the freed storage, but it still reached the same limited capacity which is a lot less than I configured.
What’s going on here?
Thanks for writing in! Based on your above description, I’m not absolutely certain your experiencing any technical issues. With smart downloads, sometimes it may determine there’s nothing valuable enough to download or it may be between checks with the Roon Server.
If you manually download an album do you run into any issues?
Hi @benjamin, thanks for the reply.
When I removed some albums it did decide to download some others so it did find the other ones “valuable” enough, it just seemed like it had some target storage capacity. I also recall in the beginning when the downloads kinda stopped and I allowed 10 more gigs and it did add more downloads.
In my view there’s still a whole lot of stuff I would like to have on my device for offline use. I could just increase the allowed space to force Arc to download more but it just seems to be wrong to me and thought I’d report this behavior.
We do have a Feature Suggestions section if you would like to submit a post there. Once you do other users can vote on it and if it receives enough attention our product team will take a look.
Thanks @Chikolad. Diagnostics show repeating instances of the pattern I mentioned above.
In the meantime and for due diligence, verify the storage permissions for ARC in your iOS settings and, only if you’re willing to redownload this mass of content, you can try re-installing again.
We’ll respond as soon as possible with more information.
