ARC stopped reporting album title in BT.
Restarting the app brings it back but then it disappears again.
I’m on Android
Hey @Chikolad, Roon will need a bit more detail to help you get this resolved. Would you mind filling out the support template below? You can copy and paste it in your reply, thanks!

Hi @Carl, here’s the info -
Roon Core Machine
My humble setup is an Intel i5-4460, 8GB RAM PC running Windows 10 Pro.
Networking Gear & Setup Details
Router is an Asus RT-AX88U with port forwarding enabled. My internet speed is 200Gb download and 5Gb upload, but the core machine only gets 100Gb d/l through the Ethernet. I don’t have any special firewalls, AV, or VPN.
Connected Audio Devices
Besides ARC I have a Chord Huge2 + 2GO connected via Ethernet and Kef LS50 Wireless speakers connected via WiFi, but they’re never used simultaneously with ARC.
Number of Tracks in Library
~33K tracks
Description of Issue
The problem is that recently when in my car (either one of our 2 cars), ARC doesn’t report the album titles over BT. Other music software does. I also tried restarting my phone (Samsung S21 Ultra) and the problem persists.
I have noticed in the last days that it’s not consistent - occasionally it will display the album title but mostly not.
I just updated my core to the latest version that came out a couple of days ago. I will report if it made a difference.
Thanks!
FWIW, I’ve seen this as well for quite a few recent versions of the Android ARC app, seems to be intermittent - I think it generally works the first time of the day, but when brought back from background seems less reliable. I should probably have reported it earlier but thought it might resolve in a subsequent release.
Last noticed yesterday, connecting Samsung S22 (Android 13, One UI 5.0) to the car (Ford Mondeo running SYNC), running ARC B139, Core B1208.
Updating / restarting the core made no difference - the problem persists
Hi @Chikolad,
We’re sorry to hear that you’re still seeing this error. Does the album title fail to display in Android Auto for both local and streaming tracks? Do you have a stable connection via cellular when this occurs? Lastly, are there any errors displayed in Roon → Settings → Roon ARC?
Also, how much RAM and storage is available on your phone? Image loading, even from cached images, can be affected my memory pressure.
The team will investigate diagnostics to learn more. In the meantime, please try refreshing your Roon Core’s database to stabilize conditions:
- Create a Backup of your current database
- Exit out of Roon
- Navigate to your Roon Database Location
- Find the folder that says “Roon”
- Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
- Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
- Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
Hi @connor,
I don’t use Android Auto, just plain old Bluetooth connection to my car.
Yes, the album title fails to display both for local and streaming tracks. Yes, I have a stable connection when it occurs (starting about 2 weeks ago, I almost never have the album title). There are no errors displayed in the Roon ARC page on the core.
I have plenty of RAM and storage available on my phone (5.8 GB and 138GB respectively currently).
If anything, it’s my core that’s relatively low on resources. Could that be the cause?
I will try the DB refresh when I get the time to do it. Thanks!
Hey @connor,
I might be speaking too soon, but it looks like the latest updates to ARC/Roon have solved the album title issue! Also, skipping tracks seems a little snappier. It’s been lagging a bit recently.
Will notify you if it creeps back somehow.
Thanks!
@connor, indeed I spoke too soon.
It’s back along with the lag when skipping tracks. They seem related.
Hi @Chikolad,
We’ve made some connectivity and stability improvements over the last few ARC release. How has ARC been performing when you’re on a cellular connection and on-the-go?
Continuing this thread since I can’t reply there anymore - ARC stopped reporting album title in BT - #12 by connor
Hi @connor,
In response to your question, I’m still experiencing the same problem with ARC over BT even in the last few days and I believe I’m up to date with the versions.
Thanks!
Hi it was auto closed after 45 days of inactivity, I’ve reopened and merged topics.
@Carl, another clue: looks like it’s indeed isolated to when I’m on the go. When I’m parked in my car outside the house and the Wi-Fi is within range then the album title is displayed and switching tracks is much snappier.
BTW even then I saw that the album title sometimes goes away for a split second and comes back, at the start of the track. So there is something funky there for sure.
I tried doing the same with parking next to another Wi-Fi, not the one my core is in, and it was the same as with the cellular network. However the signal was not very good.
I just thought that at some point I switched on QoS on my router and maybe it interferes with traffic going outside my home network. Can’t remember if it was around the time I started experiencing this issue but I’ll need to try switching if off and see if it makes a difference.
Update: turning off QoS made no difference. Also, even within my Wi-Fi the problem sometimes happens…
Hi @connor, I finally got around to restoring a backup into a fresh installation of my core RoonServer, and have been using ARC for the past day and it looks like the issue is resolved for now. Hope it stays that way.
Now, along with the recent improvements in ARC with stability and latency of streaming music, it’s a night and day better experience for me.
Cheers!
